    Hi,

I bought a Nissan Micra Diesel 2008. It had difficulties to start when cold when I bought it, changed the battery for a better one, plugs, all the filters including fuel filter, timing belt, starter of the car...then with the good weather the problem disappeared and now that the cold started again, I have the same problem. Now...it´s not only difficult to start, when you start it, after a few seconds if turns off. I have to try starting it in second gear and insisting many times, then I have to let it run, otherwise it cuts off again. Spend a lot of money in repairs and no one is able to tell me what is wrong with this car, not even one NISSAN dealer. I'm out of ideas, someone says the injectors, the fuel pump, other mechanics change the fuel filter again...and so on. Please HELP....car is not even one year old, I´m very frustrated and feel robbed...as I paid 4700 euros, because it was supposed to be a very good car, even checked it with a mechanic, and he said is a very good car before buying it. Not a good deal.

Try turning the ignition on, wait for the glow plug light on the dash to go out and turn off the ignition, then turn it on again and when the glow plug light goes out try start.

You said you got a new battery, how does she sound when you crank her? If your alternator is on it's way out it might not be providing enough power to the starter.

Has the glowplug relay been checked to make sure that it's working. If it's failed, or there is another issue with the circuit, then the plugs are doing nothing to help the starting, which would give exactly the sort of symptoms you are describing.

Easy enough to check, connect a volt meter to the wire on the top of one of the heater plugs, with the other lead to the negative of the battery, or a suitable place on the bodywork that will give a good earth, and when cold, there should be a voltage on the plug when the ignition is turned on. It will be less than 12 V due to the current that the plugs take, but not a lot lower. If there's no voltage there, then either the relay has failed, or the fuse has blown.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁
