Mazda rx-8. No interior photos of seats but relatively low mileage. E1850. Would be tempted but need a car that can fit a bike

132,000 is high on those engines isn't it? Unless it's one of the many of those on its second one.

Do the bores as well as rings go one them? And they really tickover at 2k rpm like the photo? Assuming it's 100% it's a fairly impressive if risky car for the money, I've always been interested in the wankel engines

They've 2 adds for the 306 and another for a Lexus. All seem to focus on sob stories and bull sh!t about the potential those cars have as classics. He's looking to sell to an idiot.

You think he went to the bother of fabricating a sob story about a supposed one owner car to sell it for 600 odd bucks? With 6 months test, 6 months tax and the book backing up the owner claim.
Granted, the seller is probably young and a bit naive but I'd wager the car is genuine.
I don't think he's trying to sell to an idiot.

I like these in 3-door. A new soft roof is £250.00 and easily fitted for the summer if you wish. Nice colour on this and it looks clean, poor pics and no interior pics.

Claimed NCT recently done, so should be able to do an early test at the end of the month.

    €1,500, 28/02/19, has 160,000km.

Looks to be in nice shape but if I was in the market for a vehicle of this nature I'd be more inclined to go for on of these.

Unless I am mistaken the Land rover has a strong appetite for head gaskets and also is considerably less economical than the Toyota if Donedeal figures are anything to go by.

Yes its quiet high so id be looking for compression results as a standard with any rotary engine, and proof of engine rebuild if it had one.

🀔 bores and rings? Wankel engines have rotors with apex seals, corner and side seals and oil control rings. The high idle suggests a vacuum leak and its a 5 speed lower power model. Still a good price for an 08 if it checks out but between engine problems and rust even good ones dont sell for much more. RX8 is a buyers market but it also pays to do your homework.

Whenever I see one of those I'm reminded of that top gear episode where they showed one after a crash. Mangled at 40mph I think

Yes there's not much point buying the 5 speed 192bhp when the 6 speed 231bhp is similar money and a better car.

Half tempted to have a look at this, ticks the cheap tax, diesel boxes, low enough mileage (if genuine) 08 fiesta. 2K seems good compared to others same year?

Only worth half that given that it's the 1.8 petrol model, head gaskets !!

If it's still running, the headgasket has long been successfully fixed.

Once the headgasket is changed in the right manner and with the right parts, it will not fail again.

Any opinions on this folks? Years test and 7 months tax. At 174k miles I'm guessing they're reliable enough? Are they as poor on full as the details suggest (40mpg)? Anything in particular to look out for?

If you only used it as a back-up battery for a house solar PV system it would probably be worth that. I hate them, but that has to be worth a punt.

*EDIT* The road tax is feckin hilarious - I've a 3 litre that is cheaper to tax!

    €413?

What 3 litre do you have?

Lol in fairness a lot of the newer ones appear to be in and around that mark. Fairy nuff!

You had me doubting myself for a minute there (I've never actually taxed it as I only have this model 6 months) but I checked online and yes, it is €280.

Plenty of post 2008 bigger engined cars cost small money to tax on the emissions based tax system. My 3.0 litre costs €390 to tax. They cost a lot more to buy than that Prius though.

Diesel auto 9-5 with a bit of tax and test till 4/19 for a grand.

Could be a nice winter barge for someone

That is cheap tax imo - I'm used to paying Eur 200 every three months. I have since changed the car but most 2 ltr's pre 07 were 700 or so, more if you were paying by quarter.

As mentioned, post 08 cars (Diesel ones especially) are priced accordingly so you have to match your budget and calculate the tax bill if pre 08.
