As far as I know, only the Chinese version is available, which has English and Chinese languages only.

I'm not 100%, so don't take as gospel

I'm reading about a global ROM though, which apparently has all languages and comes with google play. Probably better off with that version I reckon.

I'd be putting a custom rom on it, or xiaomi.eu at least.

The only worry I have at the back of my mind (Corkie on here will know) was that there may have been something recently about xiaomi not unlocking the bootloader of Chinese versions sold on the global market in future?
    Will check this before ordering.

If you see a genuine global version, let us know - I have a feeling it's not released yet tho'

The Mi Pad on gearbest says it's the global version, honorbuy says theirs is 'Chinese and English only'. gb are now saying the dispatch time is 7-14 days which is a bit ridiculous/quote]

I ordered my mí pad 4 plus from honor buy
on Sunday, and arrived at DHL depot this morning. Unfortunately I didn't get the promised text to say it had arrived so won't be able to collect until tomorrow

Let us know what you think of it, if you don't mind.

Am itching to buy, but trying to hold off to 11.11, to see if there's any deals..

The Nexus is getting on a bit and no longer being updated. It still works grand for what I want it for (Videos while travelling mainly) but maybe time to think of changing. No hurry on me though.
Won’t compromise on battery life or screen resolution. Would love an sd card slot.

    Any thoughts?

    TIA

Flash tablet with new os, linoage os, will get you another year out of it :)

[Xiaomi][Others] Important Announcement About Flashing Mi Phones Manufactured by China!

"Here's something VERY important before you flash or update the ROM.

    1. Xiaomi Phones manufactured for Chinese market are not able to run MIUI Global ROM.
    2. Xiaomi Phones manufactured for Global markets are not able to run MIUI China ROM.

We highly recommend you to buy Xiaomi Phones via official or authorized sales channels and double check the system infomation before flashing or updating. "

Applies to new purchases and phones purchased from now on. Older devices probably still can be flashed. It is unclear.

It maybe that you just can't lock the bootloader again if you change version.

I believe you can unlock, but not relock the bootloader if you change version of MIUI rom. Should not matter if your using a custom rom, as it is generally not recommend to lock bootloaders on them.

Read somewhere about requesting permission which takes up to 360hrs....

Yeah, that's true for all but the poco F1, but ok in my book if it stops retailers putting malware infested roms onto the phones they're selling.

Had to wait 360 hrs for my Redmi Note 5 pro, but I just reboxed it and waited - frustrating, but understandable imo

Aahh, wasn't sure why but that makes a lot of sense.

And for newer devices it is now up to 720 hours for bootloader unlock.

That's a bit much, but I'll still get the MiPad 4 I reckon - hopefully they don't go full Huawei and refuse unlocking altogether..

Looking at the Xiaomi [Mi Pad 4] I think it ticks all the boxes

Just pulled the trigger with honorbuy. Worked out around €250 for the 4/64 version with case, glass protection etc.
Looking forward to seeing how it performs.

So I held off till 11.11 and picked it up this morning on Aliexpress - €187 it came to with various seller and Ali coupons.

Shipping from Spain, so no customs, but had to send to Parcel Wizard as the Spain warehouse don't ship to Ireland.

Can't wait to try it, but dreading the 720hr wait to unlock the bootloader..

On the look out for a good case, if anyone has one..

let us know how you get on with that. you're unlocking bootloader to put on eu rom is it?

thanks for ali link - looks like a good option for buying.

let us know how long it will take from order to delivery?

what coupons did you get for ali and how?

Yes, will use xiaomi.eu until official Lineage / RR Rom available (xiaomi haven't released the code to allow the devs to work on proper custom roms yet)
    ...

    Will update when it's delivered..
    ...

Under the listing there's 2 options for coupons - select coupons and seller coupons - I just clicked both - total price was $211.25 including postage to Parcel Wizard..

went ahead and ordered also. went for the option of the included case to save buying one somewhere else.

Got caught by customs. Took weeks to get from China then nearly a fortnight in Portlaoise. Finally got an email from revenue demanding the invoice so they could assess the duty owed.
Should have gone with an eu warehouse even if it wasn’t an international rom.

no sign of shipment yet for me - you? are you going to extend processing time on ali if no shipment?
guessing that with the 11/11 thing that there is a backlog

Not yet either - messaged them earlier and got a generic 'we are preparing your order' response..

Yeah, I'll likely extend processing time - have 1 day 10hrs left till it finalises, so I'll do it tomorrow - they've good feedback, so I imagine they'll come through..

$30+ billion spent on Ali on 11.11 - gotta take a bit of time to sort all those orders!

Mi Pad 4 just arrived and it’s set to Chinese on the initial setup. It’s not obvious how to change it to English. Anyone have any experience of this?

This is the kind of screen I’m getting and it seems to be asking for a security pattern too before letting me in.

    Did you contact the seller?

Don't think the seller will be much use. Anyway, I've managed to clear the security pattern using a little programme I downloaded. I'm on now and I've managed to clear a lot of the Chinese crap and I'm in English.

There seems to be a funny version of Play Store installed and it won't recognise Netflix. I've tried to update it or delete it but it doesn't seem to be shifting. I'll play around with it tonight and I'm sure I'll sort it.

Nice hardware and it seems nippy.

Not the playstore but Mi Store is installed!

Thanks for that but nothing there seems to be working as it should. Can't delete apps and searching for google doesn't bring up the store.

Would I be better off flashing the thing entirely? I've had a look at the Mi site and they seem to have ROMs for a lot of devices but not the Pad 4. Most of them seem to be for phones.

If your bootloader is unlocked, I'd go with the xiaomi.eu rom

Well I got shipment notification today, but tracking says 'item refused by warehouse'

Looks like it's not going to be as straightforward as I'd hoped..
