That’s the stuff. Kudos to you. Drag other debates into this thread.

It’s relevant when you’re the one claiming other people are too stupid to get satire.
Oh and also telling people not to take things literally and then taking Kew’s post about jumping off a cliff literally

Chill out? I’m perfectly “chilled out”. You accused me of blindly following Blindboy(pun intended), so much so I’d jump off a cliff if he said so. Now you’re all upset I’ve pointed out the stupidity of that?

I didn’t say you are stupid. I didn’t intend to insult you.

You insulted me and all you have done is attacked the Poster rather then post.

I didn't expect anything better though.

Sadly I did it myself too in end. Should have just not followed

Thread is about him voicing real opinions through a parody character in the last couple of years. Now you pretend things he said in character years ago should be considered his genuine opinions.

Don't know if there's any value in people still trying to debate anything here. Perhaps this thread should be allowed to wholly degenerate into the circle jerk of petty bashing that it mainly has become.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,413 ✭✭✭Stab*City

This thread is 141 pages longer than it should be. One post would have done it. It's impossible to take BB serious he is a fictional character.

How are we supposed to know if he's holding a "real" opinion? We're not mind readers.

I was attacking the notion that I’m an ardent follower of Blindboy. I didnt do a very good job at it.

My attempts at humour read as snide insults. I’m sorry. I wasn’t calling you stupid, I unreservedly apologise.

I didn’t claim anyone was too stupid to understand satire. I was messing. Jesus, everyone is so sensitive today.

It’s satire when it’s actually satire. It’s not that complicated a concept. Would you like it explained in pictures?

À load of quoted posts. That's razor sharp debating right there.

Maybe you should quote some posts from other threads to really bring it home.

Fan of Blindboy here, love what he puts out for the most part but even I must admit he talks sh*t a bit.

He does live podcasts with guests of his choosing every now and again and these people are usually involved in things he has an interest in. The only problem is he makes a bit of an arse of himself.

He'll bring his thoughts and theories from his own podcast (which he usually covers his arse with by saying not to take it as fact), but he'll go on about it then in a live show with someone who actually knows what they're on about.

    It'll usually be something like:
Topic is mentioned, Blindboy will make a statement about said topic and the guest will then shut him down sometimes.

The Vincent Browne Live podcast he did was a bit embarrassing in that regard as Vincent would reply with 'Not quite/necessarily' to some of his statements and the audience would laugh then. Could easily tell Vincent was bewildered by him. To a lesser degree on the podcast he did with Spike Lee where he came out with a theory and Spike told him it was a big stretch.

Blindboy trying to be his usual edgy self.

Doesn't really say much for how he sees Freddie Mercury though if to him he was just a "person who did loads of drugs & gay sex".

Christ would he give the political stuff/making everything political a rest....id rather listen to Bono pontificate than this plastic bag moron

And apparently it was the band who wanted a lower age rating and focus on the artistic/music side

this tweet was fantastic "Another example of the far-left politicising everything. Placing a label on everyone (even cinema goers) and everything. The movie was made with all of the band's approval. Next tying shoe laces and putting milk in cornflakes will be a political statement to the far-left.#2

I can't imagine that his surviving family and friends, or Freddie Mercury himself, would be very happy about a film focusing on the most salacious aspects of his life over his music.

    This statement is the problem.
Being a gay man is not salacious.

The issue was that they glazed over his romantic relationships with men and instead focused on his one heterosexual relationship, further perpetuating the idea that it’s “wrong” or “indecent” to be a gay man, and that he should really be with a woman.

Holding an inordinate interest in a person's sex life is salacious in my view, regardless of sexual orientation.
