The spoken 'funny' promos before each commercial break are very annoying. I've asked this before here, but is it keith walsh from the 2fm breakfast show voicing them?

Nope, it's "you-know-who " , who's been hogging the station as much as possible since last year.

It doesn't sound like Hayes in those nails-down-a-blackboard links.

    Who's the mystery ear terrorist?

    Bob...?

Every funny promo makes a reference to Bob, and how they're worried about Bob. Dawned on me that maybe it was an anagram

Which shows are live and which ones are pre recorded?

Anything between 07:00 and 07:00 PM Monday to Friday is live some nights it sounds if GG is recorded, Friday night 80s is pre-recorded or voice tracked whatever the term is.

Weekends hit and miss Saturday Lise Guirnan / Liam Quigley / Peter Devlin live
On Sunday John Clarke / Liam Quigley / Gavin Glass / Kieran McGuinness all live

As someone who works at night Its the repetitive nature of the same songs and voice tracks that really irk me I barely listen in now

I got shot down for suggesting it would be pre-recorded when it was announced he was taking over that slot.

I hit the nail on the head I think - most shows on that slot previous to GG were pre-recorded.

Greg often mentions football scores so not sure if all his shows are recorded.

I tuned in to the PJ & Jim Show on Classic Hits this morning. They played Blondie's 'Maria' and U2's 'Mysterious Ways'. During the chat section they spoke about relevant music news such as the U2 and Bon Jovi concerts. Colm & Lucy were on about the usual nonsense. If you were to play snippets of each show from this morning to someone who wasn't in the know and you were to ask them which one do they think is Dublin's only rock station, they'd most likely answer 'PJ & Jim' (and they're not even trying to be a rock programme, yet they're doing it better than Nova).

I've actually started listening to classic hits and its much more "rocky" than Nova for sure. There were concerts - rock concerts - being mentioned that were never ever mentioned on Nova.

TBH I'm glad I made the switch over to classic hits, it just seems to be run better and more music. Not always rock but hey can't win them all ;)

The Classic hits and Nova playlist are pretty much the same. The only difference is Nova pretend they are a rock station when in reality they're just an easy listening station.

Is Miller still going on and on with stuff he's googled the day before.??..I thought that the Gobsh1tes show (7-10am ) was the only show without restrictions on talk between songs...

I said this in a post on FB a while back.

Something along the lines of. it's a good job they share the same building so Nova can pop down and borrow 4FM's cd's.......

One of the "jocks" on Nova took umbridge with me and made a pretty pissy reply....guess I touched a nerve..

    Pissy Jocks.. ;)

    sorry!

Seems to be the MO here on Nova. Delete complaints on Facebook and tell long term faithful listeners to gtfo.

I really can't understand how anyone thinks that morning show is listenable. It's juvenile, scripted and fake.

That ghastly voiceover man and those turgid links also need to go. They seem to be pumping them out more and more during the day, each one more cringe than the next.

His voice doesn't work at all with the branding and tone of the station.

I guess the truth must have hurt, or else Hayes made them do it in order to prove their 'loyalty' to him :D

They've definitely deleted posts that were critical of the breakfast show (they deleted one of mine). But the comments kept coming, so I think they just gave up on trying to delete them all. They seem to have found a 'solution' of sorts. It appears that they're just not posting anything in relation to the breakfast show anymore.

I have heard quite a bit of "PJ & Jim" lately, including yesterday and today. Incidentally, P.J. Gallagher had to go home sick early yesterday, before I was listening, and he was out sick today. Their producer "Magic" Mike was standing in for him. I have to admit Jim McCabe with P.J. or Mike are probably one of the less annoying duo combinations on breakfast radio.

Going back to Radio Nova, another curious angle is the number of presenters with national radio experience: Colm Hayes (2FM), Marty Miller (Today FM), Ruth Scott (2FM), Greg Gaughren (Century Radio), Liam Quigley (Century Radio and 2FM) and John Clarke (2FM).

Are you trying to imply that there is a radio cabal or lodge? Somewhere that looks after DJs? :D

Well looking at the drivel they post on facebook they obviously have paid peanuts and gotten monkeys to look after their marketing/social media

I thin Dub Ste said it may even have been the main man himself...
*note it may not have been*

but just shows the tone of the station has been lowered to abusing listeners.

Indeed. Rather than being adults about it and engaging with their listeners who have given them a resounding 'NO!' in response to the breakfast show and the watered down 'rock' format they've employed in recent years, they throw their toys out of the pram ie: snapping at listeners, deleting critical comments etc.

    'LIKE US, DAMMIT!'
    No, I won't.

No it wasn't the main man, it was Miller, got really snippy cos I'd won a few prizes off Nova and had the nerve to slag them off for becoming just A N Other radio bland station.

Said if I didn't like it, maybe I should switch off, which is just what I've done for the most.

Only listen to Pat James now.

It is such a shame the way Nova has gone recently. Had really high hopes for it during the test transmissions when they were playing really good music.

But a "rock" station that has Duran Duran and The Eurthymics as part of their staple play lists..........................I'm out.
