Your a tease with your big budget :)

    More than enough totally.

I would go for an PCIe Nvme main drive the evo is SATA III based.

Realistically you won't see much difference.
Kingston Technology SSD A1000 (SA1000M8/960G) is only £20 more though so not too bad.

Are you still planning to use 3440 x 1440 monitor with it? Then it probably is worth it at that resolution but maybe look for a second hand card.

That's a lot of pixels at 120hz, I'd say you've already committed to a 1080 ti to drive that.
I'm still on 1080p though so wait for someone with more experience at high resolution to give an opinion.

I'd get a 2nd hand one off adverts myself, bought plenty over the years on adverts and ebay and never had anything CPU, RAM or GPU related die on me!

Im up and going with the new PC.

I've had a BSOD once but i'm hoping that was a red herring as I've had the PC on for a few hours since and it's been fine and running a benchmark software was smooth so the real test will be playing some games now.

Ill add some pictures up soon

I think I got the BSOD issues sorted (touch wood) turns out I missing some drivers

I never even thought about a right-angle 24pin adapter. I'm sure I've seen them in other builds, but I've never took notice. So nice!

It was a more money than sense purchase

TBH most of the stuff on AliExpress is from the exact same factories & 100% working.

These resellers live & die on their customer feedback.

Also it's such an extremely simple device I can't imagine them going too far wrong.

Ye are ignoring the fact that for the extra tenner, it was shipped from the EU with a certain delivery date, and is much less likely to have an internal short. Some stuff from aliexpress might take weeks or months to arrive. It's fine if you want something and don't care about when it'll arrive, and don't mind the chance of it getting caught in customs. If it comes through a courier, that's a tenner of paperwork right there, on top of the VAT charge.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,983 ✭✭✭✭tuxy

Why would there be VAT charged on any item worth less than €22?

Nice case Headshot, im a bit disappointed with the case i went with for my build recently.
A few mates really liked it when they saw it but not for me, maybe i wont notice in a few months.

Might be going a little far with my reasoning, but even without getting caught up in customs, the rest stands.

Yeah it's a fair point. Paying an extra €12 for a €3 item is worth it if you need the item asap. You have no choice in that situation.
But claiming simple items like this from Chinese websites are dodgy is incorrect imo.

I'm just overly cautious I guess. However, there was a super cool reservoir featured on LinusTechTips that was custom for a specific case (it's in their copper pipe build) that looked sick. In that case, where something exists that can't be obtained over here, I'd be down for it. It needs to be a very compelling saving to convince me in another case, e.g. buying cheapo nintendo wii motes due to the outrageous markup on nintendo products.

Anyway, I'm driving this off topic so if you wanna chat more, we'll put it in the off-topic thread.
