Megane 4 opinions (2017)?

    Any owners out there? Looking at a 2017 S NAV, they are well equipped, comfy and peppy.

    Considering 1.5 or 1.6 dci or the 1.2 Petrol (130bhp). Mileage is about 18K a year.

    Could live with the hatch but the saloon offers more boot space.

    Have had mixed Renault experience over the years, last one was a 2010 rand Scenic, mechanically bombproof but a some electrical mayhem. Have things improved?

    I know it has just been face lifted, don't mid the old model though.

    Anyone with experience if them?

    It was more than a facelift, the new model from 2016 is on a new platform. Old Fluence was the saloon version of the Megane3 but designed mainly for the Asian market, this was replaced by the Megane Grand Coupe saloon. I haven't heard of any major problems with the current Megane4.

    1.6d has more grunt than the 1.5d and carried over from the Megane3. 1.2 petrol is a turbo unit and has been on sale in the likes of the Nissan Qashqai for a few years now. Megane hatchback is available in GT form too with 1.6 turbo 200bhp engine. These are good value second hand given the power they have.

    Cheers Bazz, by facelift I mean the LCI one pending. I know the current Mégane owes little to it's predecessor (thankfully).

    Megane1 1998 to 2002 (ok)

    Megane2 2002 to 2009 (bad)

    Megane3 2009 to 2015 (good)

    Megane4 2016 to present (good).

    They don't really give much trouble that I've seen. We have sold quite a lot of them since 2016. The R-link can give trouble but normally just needs an update. I do prefer the 1.6 dci has a bit more go in it

    The 1.6 engine is a super bit of kit.

    I’ve only driven the twin turbo one, but yes it’s smooth for a diesel IMO. Big dollop of torque makes it fun too.
