Anyone else with stbemu on the shield start getting ads in it the past few days? Never got them before. I'll have to upgrade to the pro version it seems.

    Yup started on mine yesterday.

Think I'll just buy the pro version and be done with it.

This is kinda Shield related so I'm posting it here it could be of help to someone.

I have an old Logitech z5500 surround receiver that supports AC3 and DTS but not any of the newer formats DD+ DTS-HD, DTS-MA etc. If I use the Emby Android TV app on my Shield to play media that has DD+ or any of the others the receiver doesn't support I get Dolby Digital. Surround sound always just works, I guess the app is getting the Shield to transcode it to Dolby Digital AC3.
But if I use Emby for Kodi in Kodi all I used get was PCM 2.0 on any audio not supported. I tried disabling passthrough but then all I ever get is PCM 2.0 at all times.

Well I got it sorted so posting the answer here for anyone else. Setting the number of channels to 2.0 optimised with stereo upmix enabled in Kodi gave more options for passthrough specifically one called enable Dolby Digital AC3 transcoding. I can leave Dolby Digital Plus disabled and enable DTS. Everything unsupported gets transcoded to AC3 so I get surround for everything that has it. I'm using the default Kodi 17 Krypton from the play store btw.

Perfect player trying the same lately, option to buy full version etc via my pay Pal,smelled a rat , agree to pay, then back button to get back to normal, full version is e1.99,but it's not the payment ,but probably leads to a scam etc,so won't be buying it

Can’t you just buy it on the play store and there won’t be any rats
On my play store on Nvidia shield perfect player isn't there, free one installed on the shield when I bought it

Offering warez in a public thread will get it locked and people banned. Keep that type of discussion in pm.

I'm not sure if you could class this as warez it was originally made available for free by it's creators and there, has been no circumvention of any copyright protection.

    That's just obtuse.

    There are two versions:-

    1. Free but advert supported which seems to be annoying people.

    2. Licensed for €6.49 with no adverts.

It's NOT freeware/open source and the Pro version was never made available for free by the creators.

If you want free live with the adverts.

If you don't want the adverts pay the €6.49.

I've never bothered with any IPTV player outside of Kodi.
I've tried them all but I always end up back on KODI with a combo of Simple IPTV and Vu+ plug ins.
    Free and easy.

Well it was available for free on the play store up to about 2 months ago I downloaded it myself.

Does anybody elses WIFI on their shield drop now and again and the only solution is to reboot the wifi router`?

Maybe it was but it was a single user license not freeware for re-distribution.

The developers have built a highly functional robust app. Why deny them €6.49 FFS?

My Shield has never worked over ethernet. Not sure if it's the shield or the horizon box output.

Are Shield TV boxes something that get reductions in Black friday etc. Or would I be better just pulling the plug and getting one now?

Will do thanks for the heads up :)

    Quick (maybe dumb) question:
I have Amazon Prime UK. I've never set up the Prime Video app on the Shield as when I first looked for it it wasnt available. I only used it on my iPad using a DNS from Getflix.
Recently I installed the app on the Shield and I'm able to access content without any DNS... at first glance it's the same content (I only watch Amazon originals on it). Is there a difference or are the libraries now the same between UK and Ireland?
