Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Football development teams in the league and championship?

    Dublin already do it in the O'Byrne Cup and it works great.
    If a team like Dublin or Kerry could field a a development team in the championship and league I think it would really liven things up.
    Start them in division 4 in the league to be fair to all teams.

    Then you would get to see the unheralded players from a County and the young up and coming fellas who have yet to get a look in.
    The so called weaker counties would have a better chance of getting a cut off these teams.
    Also when these teams face thier main team it would be frantic with fellas out to prove a point.

    Is it is a bad idea or a good idea?

    Well a Dublin B or a Kerry B would probably be too strong for most division 4 sides(perhaps even division3)..might be a better option than splitting Dublin in 2 or 3, the obvious answer overall is to have a tiered championship, probably 3 or 4 tiers

    Sorry i did not make it clear in my original post.
    The idea for this was partly because in the Dublin County board or among the majoirty of Dublin supporters there is no appetite to split Dublin.
    I thought this could be a work around of sorts.

    As for starting in division 4 that is the fairest because they would be a new team and would have to find thier level.

    There is a junior championship. When Kieran mcgeeney was with kildare he put a lot of effort into the junior team as a feeder team to the seniors - they were getting competitive games and a chance to prove themselves. They might have changed the rules around that kind of scenario since though

    There is but the fact that the Dublin/Kerry teams would be on a higher level mean they they could hold their own in the main championship.

    1 Dublin team ruining the Intercounty game is more than enough, we don't want more unless they are split like they should be if the GAA were in anyway interested in fairness
