My first question............. "What factors make travellers TODAY an ethnic minority"

Both serious and humorous replies welcomed.........

Because we’ve got this piece of paper that says so.

    That’s about it.

    Re the tweet from Jennifer Maguire;

It's possible Casey replied "what's that?" but not in ignorance more so in mishearing her "what was that?/ What did you say?". But it's convenient now for an RTE stooge like her to manipulate, exploit and twist words to try and sully an outspoken guy.

My guess is that Casey telling obvious truths about travelers and seeing the response from it is just a start and he's perceived as a threat by a cosseted RTE. What next? He might be outspoken about the shambles RTE is.

Best to lay into him now and label him racist etc to discredit him and keep the show going. Sully the messenger, sully the message. The guy is a millionaire. That affords him freedom to speak out and that is a danger to sacred cows.

    that makes sense
    a dirty trick

Made feel like a pariah for working ?

    By who?

Do your neighbours , your friends make you feel like a pariah ?

There is no conservative government left in the UK. A conservative government wouldnt go for the national nonsensical rethoric that they are pulling and remove market access. That is not conservative that is right wing thinking.

It simply doesn't allign with what conservative means.

And people trying to rewrite what the lines of liberal are , are wrong.

There's a reason there's a constant pressure to label centerist governments as liberal left because it suits the far right to put distance to centerist policies . And no centerist policies do not include making you a pariah for working.

A government that gives the likes of Margaret Cash €50k tax free in benefits and free heqlthcare for having 7 kids. And a free house down the road. Something the vast majority of working families could only dream about. And yet they are supposed to feel sorry for her???

    That's extreme left socialism.

I have no problem feeling sorry for her kids. Not for the likes of her though.

    Shut down RTE

    I'd vote for that

No one answered my question so I will ask again, is it true or false that travelers get extra payment on the social because of their "ethnic" status?

    Thank you !

Casey didnt make attacks on anyone.

He said he couldnt understand why travellers got ethnic status and can you reply to the question I put previously.

What is there about their culture that is deserving of ethnic status, why is it being proposed that my children should learn about their culture in school. How would you fill even one lesson time if after hundreds of posts here no one can explain what traveller culture is.

The rest of your post is just nonsense and its people like you are the major stumbling block in the State not enforcing the right of traveller children to a decent lifestyle beginning with their right to education being enforced without exception even if that means a Garda escort to school in the morning.

Keep on keeping on the way you are going and in twenty years time the current travellers infants will mostly still be uneducated and therefore unemployable and untrustworthy. The girls will still be taken out of school at sixteen and married off because their parents have ensured they have no escape route because they have been denied an education, the resistance to education is probably mostly coming from male travellers because how can they exert their dominance through their fists if their wives and daughters have economic independence and arent pregnant every nine months from age sixteen.

ETA, people voted for Casey for one reason and one reason only and that was to do with real concerns about travellers.

If you look at the pattern of voting Caseys main support came from areas where travellers are present in large numbers, things have never been worse between travellers and people who abide for the most part rules in civi society and for the most part dont cause problems for their neighbours.

Its time now to stop Government funding of Pavee Point, its serving no purpose, for the love of God wouldnt you think someone from that outfit would acknowledge that the travellers are responsible for Peter Caseys success and no point in deflecting the elephant in the room by shouting racism. Own up to the effects members of your community are having on rural Ireland for the love of God.
Casey didnt make attacks on anyone.

He's entitled to question the issue of ethnicity if he wishes, quite what that has to do with the Presidency is beyond me. However he went on to make attacks on Travellers about camping on other people's land - why make no attack on government policy on halting sites, why not make attacks on government cuts to Travellers education programmes? Having finished with Travllers he went on to attack people on welfare - social welfare mind you not a word about corporate welfare.
He said he couldnt understand why travellers got ethnic status and can you reply to the question I put previously.

I've just dealt with that. What question?
What is there about their culture that is deserving of ethnic status, why is it being proposed that my children should learn about their culture in school.

What's wrong with learning about culture? Societies are made up of a melting pot of people and cultures, why would you be opposed to your children learning about them?
The rest of your post is just nonsense and its people like you are the major stumbling block in the State not enforcing the right of traveller children to a decent lifestyle beginning with their right to education being enforced without exception even if that means a Garda escort to school in the morning.

Ah the old 'your post is rubbish' - classic cowardly tactic. Traveller children completing primary education is pretty much similar to the settled community so there isn't an inherent anti education ethos as you seem to imply. There figures at secondary level are lower but improving as it is at third level. However the idea that you send cops in to drag kids from their bed to a school is perverts and fascistic in tone. Lastly you know nothing about me so might I suggest you don't make assertions based on your own ignorance.
Keep on keeping on the way you are going and in twenty years time the current travellers infants will mostly still be uneducated and therefore unemployable and untrustworthy.

I've already indicated how the situation is improving, I might also point out that Traveller education funding was cut by 90% during the crisis, no other supports suffered such a cut - I dare say you were howling in opposition to those cuts given your deep concern for education among Travellers.

Some of the strongest Traveller voices against Casey have been women, women who work, women who are in education but you're so deeply entrenched in your prejudicial views you're too blind, ignorant or both to see that.
ETA, people voted for Casey for one reason and one reason only and that was to do with real concerns about travellers.

Do indicate the stats for that particular viewpoint and while you're at it perhaps explain why there was there such a heavy transfer pattern between him and MDH arguably the most pro Travellers candidate?
If you look at the pattern of voting Caseys main support came from areas where travellers are present in large numbers, things have never been worse between travellers and people who abide for the most part rules in civi society and for the most part dont cause problems for their neighbours.

He got some high votes in areas where there are concentrations of Travellers but his vote was consistent outside of those peaks which indicates it's more than Travelers.
Its time now to stop Government funding of Pavee Point, its serving no purpose,

Firstly how have you decided it serves no purpose, on what grounds have you decided that? Are you suggesting that the government cease funding all NGOs you decide have 'no purpose' or just those relating to Travellers?
for the love of God wouldnt you think someone from that outfit would acknowledge that the travellers are responsible for Peter Caseys success and no point in deflecting the elephant in the room by shouting racism. Own up to the effects members of your community are having on rural Ireland

There have been many statements from Traveller reps on Casey, I've linked one below, I'm sure if you bothered to look, you could have found it yourself.

Own up to the effects members of your community are having on rural Ireland for the love of God.

Do you think all settled people should own up to the effects of those in their community who cause misery sh!t or are you just so fixated by Travellers that you can't see past that prejudice?

What was with the traveller saying Martin Collins from Pavee Point wasnt allowed to attend last night.

Tubridy denied this happened by then moved the debate onto something else.

Is it closing time for Pavee Point, I certainly hope so. I would think the place is entirely funded by the taxpayer.

Question has been answered many times. No they don't. It's one of those myths clowns like Casey propagate and people who latch on to it never bother to check because it suits their prejudice to believe it. A bit like when the government used to give free cars to all African migrants!!!

I am happy enough that settled people are called to account for their crimes and that generally for most settled people crime doesnt pay. If the proportion of settled people in prison was the same as the miniscule traveller population that would mean prisons in every townland.

The problem with travellers and crime is that they are untouchable and anyone who mentions their propeensit y for breaking laws in called a racist.

I understand you are probably employed by Pavee Point and of course you dont want any questions asked of travellers.

Short and sweet...I'll take that as a further indication of your cowardice to engage..
I am happy enough that settled people are called to account for their crimes and that generally for most settled people crime doesnt pay.

Are you suggesting that Judges imprison members of the settled community but let Travellers go? If not how do you suggest one community is accountable and one isn't. There's alot of settled people invoved in crime so clearly many don't agree with you about crime not paying!
If the proportion of settled people in prison was the same as the miniscule traveller population that would mean prisons in every townland

Ah this old chestnut :) Tell me how do you account for a far higher number of people in Mountjoy with an address in Dublin 1 than Dublin 4? They're all settled, they all live in Dublin....what explains the difference?
The problem with travellers and crime is that they are untouchable and anyone who mentions their propeensit y for breaking laws in called a racist.

Hold on - you just stated this 'If the proportion of settled people in prison was the same as the miniscule traveller population' - if the numbers are so high, how are so many 'untouchable' - it rather contradicts your theory doesn't it? :D
I understand you are probably employed by Pavee Point and of course you dont want any questions asked of travellers.

I asked you earlier not to make unfounded assertions about me and here you go again. I don't work for any NGO nor am I a Traveller, I'm a PAYE worker but I have a modicum of intellect and I'm able to see through bigotry when confronted by it - try it sometime, you could relieve yourself of a whole heap of hate if you tried.

The 'problem' with rural crime is not that the perpetrators are untouchable, it is that they can't be caught.
Why? Because the infrastructure to catch them isn't there.

There is zero evidence to show that those 'caught' are being let off or are 'not touched'.

One thing you can be sure of when someone is trying to spread a far right agenda .

They tell lies and they try to pick a group that's not them to blame all the ills on.

Lie. We don't have a 50 per cent tax rate. I don't know about you but ten percent more taken off me means alot to me than it appears to you.

Second we have a centre to centre right government as I've stated many times .

    Stop with the mistruths.

Just pointing out the irony of slagging others as being thick whilst unable to spell the word correctly. I do agree though the grammar nazi approach is unnecessary. Sometimes idiocy can only be responded in kind.
