Peter Casey believes Travellers should not be recognised as an ethnic minority

No one answered my question so I will ask again, is it true or false that travelers get extra payment on the social because of their "ethnic" status?

ETA, people voted for Casey for one reason and one reason only and that was to do with real concerns about travellers.

If you look at the pattern of voting Caseys main support came from areas where travellers are present in large numbers, things have never been worse between travellers and people who abide for the most part rules in civi society and for the most part dont cause problems for their neighbours.

Its time now to stop Government funding of Pavee Point, its serving no purpose, for the love of God wouldnt you think someone from that outfit would acknowledge that the travellers are responsible for Peter Caseys success and no point in deflecting the elephant in the room by shouting racism. Own up to the effects members of your community are having on rural Ireland for the love of God.

He's entitled to question the issue of ethnicity if he wishes, quite what that has to do with the Presidency is beyond me. However he went on to make attacks on Travellers about camping on other people's land - why make no attack on government policy on halting sites, why not make attacks on government cuts to Travellers education programmes? Having finished with Travllers he went on to attack people on welfare - social welfare mind you not a word about corporate welfare.

Ah the old 'your post is rubbish' - classic cowardly tactic. Traveller children completing primary education is pretty much similar to the settled community so there isn't an inherent anti education ethos as you seem to imply. There figures at secondary level are lower but improving as it is at third level.However the idea that you send cops in to drag kids from their bed to a school is perverts and fascistic in tone. I've already indicated how the situation is improving, I might also point out that Traveller education funding was cut by 90% during the crisis, no other supports suffered such a cut - I dare say you were howling in opposition to those cuts given your deep concern for education among Travellers.

Some of the strongest Traveller voices against Casey have been women, women who work, women who are in education but you're so deeply entrenched in your prejudicial views you're too blind, ignorant or both to see that.

Do indicate the stats for that particular viewpoint and while you're at it perhaps explain why there was there such a heavy transfer pattern between him and MDH arguably the most pro Travellers candidate?

He got some high votes in areas where there are concentrations of Travellers but his vote was consistent outside of those peaks which indicates it's more than Travelers.

Firstly how have you decided it serves no purpose, on what grounds have you decided that? Are you suggesting that the government cease funding all NGOs you decide have 'no purpose' or just those relating to Travellers?

Question has been answered many times. No they don't. It's one of those myths clowns like Casey propagate and people who latch on to it never bother to check because it suits their prejudice to believe it. A bit like when the government used to give free cars to all African migrants!!!

The problem with travellers and crime is that they are untouchable and anyone who mentions their propeensit y for breaking laws in called a racist.

The 'problem' with rural crime is not that the perpetrators are untouchable, it is that they can't be caught.
Why? Because the infrastructure to catch them isn't there.

There is zero evidence to show that those 'caught' are being let off or are 'not touched'.
