How could this guy ever be released, sounds like he would most likely destroy some other innocents life eventually when let out in 14 years.
    https://www.rte.ie/news/courts/2018/1101/1008002-eoin-berkeley-courts/

In the words of the judge:
When the doctor examining him, tried to carry out certain psychological tests, the judge said Berkely became aggressive and agitated and threatened the doctor with physical harm and the judge said he was not optimistic about the prospects of rehabilitation.

Totally agree. That poor girl. He tried to strangle her. He sounds like a psycopath. What is the point of concurrent sentencing? Can anyone tell me? He be released in about 8 years to offend again.

Hopefully someone with nothing to lose can get hold of him and hand back some of his degradation inside.

He's a horrible cunt, I truly hope he dies in unbearable agony.

I really hope none of the bleeding heart crowd try to day he can be rehabilitated.

He's a sick piece of s**t and should be castrated, and not the cuddly medical way neither.

The scum deserves nothing better, but let me guess he will be out in less than 10 what with the old automatic remission for not raping or killing anyone whilst in jail.
This guy should never ever be let out again.

I am not allowed discuss …

Lot of prison officers drink in the pub I go to down the country think it's sickening that there's remission offered for not acting like scum in jail.

    I'd agree with them.

He also battered two girls with a hammer in the ballymun flats, he's an absolute scumbag. Should be shot.

His death would be a positive for society.

In cases like this - public execution has its merits.

He should be set on fire and put out again daily over the course of his sentence.

There's no systems in place to manage these individuals

It's left to to the streets and prison and back again to endanger the populace

I think you may have heard wrong from your bar stool drinking screws.

The prospect of enhanced remission gives prisoners an incentive to behave in prisons - if they didn't have remission prisons would be a lot more dangerous for everyone involved.

Same with drugs getting into prisons - without them things would be a lot more difficult.

Remission should be earned though, not given in advance and then reduced if/when the prisoner misbehaves.

The Liffey Boardwalk should be converted in to one giant trapdoor to drop all those junkie scumbags in to the river

Isn't this the same numpty that vandalised the front of The George?

Chances are, if this guy makes it out of prison alive he will re-offend, the 3 years post release supervision is wicked short for somebody like this.

Boiled kettle and some sugar water at the ready in prison.

The Judge said he had to take into account the tragic history of Eoin Berkeley and his mental health difficulties.

I am sick and ****ing tired of reading that kind of bollocks.

Lots of people have it tough and have mental disorders but don't go around raping, assaulting and committing acts of extreme violence.

Throw away the key on this scumbag.

"In mitigation, the judge said he had to take into account the tragic history of Eoin Berkeley and his mental health difficulties."

Im sorry, when someone else has been affected by your crime then there should be no mitigating circumstances.

Mitigating circumstances should be for **** like theft of a fully insured item etc.

Zero mitigating circumstances for this guy. 14 years is a joke.
Whoever thinks this sort of person will come out of prison after 14 years and wont re offend is kidding themselves.

He probably wont even serve anywhere near 14 years and the judge only order 3 years of monitoring after release. He should be under a lifetime of monitoring.

    Exactly the point.

Their thoughts - which I heard fine as they were talking to me! - was that you get 10 years.

Behave yourself; engage in programmes, courses whatever and then earn time off for good behaviour.

My non-violent brother is in prison with scum like this. If he had done this, I'd set him on fire myself.

Furthermore, I consider that Carthage must be destroyed.

Shockingly lenient sentence. This cnunt will go on to murder someone.

He will ,and he'll probably come under the influence of someone in prison who will inspire him to kill.

I've been close to a murder case where this happened

Look at the likes of that Barry cnut from Galway and Dwyer hanging out together.

Such a desperately sad case, the poor girl was so unfortunate to cross paths with this man.

She is so lucky she was able to get away.

Fourteen years doesnt sound much for what he did.
