Well there's a starting point for a reconciliation of something in common :pac:

Bloody hell, it's an irony overload.

If it's all legal and in the open, I don't have a problem with it. Does his company not employee people here, who pay tax, therefore don't need to go on welfare, ergo, vis a vis, concordantly, he is helping the system?

Jesus Christ how many more Peter Casey threads are there going to be set up all over the site?

Can't you ask that question in the 7000 strong post thread already set up?

    Genuine question btw.

Well I was listening to it on the radio. So was going to post it so others could turn it on if they wanted to

Didn't know which of the other ones to put it into.

If there was only one up and running I'd have put it into that.

Others are, nominally, Exit poll, who are you going to vote for, Peter Casey and the travellers, who would you have voted for if not Casey. So it didn't really fit into either of those.

BTW, "Peter Casey and the Travellers" would be a good name for a band wouldn't it?

Ah sorry it's not a dig at you I'm just genuinely sick of seeing him plastered over the front page of Boards in 20 different threads.

Many people who maximise their welfare are also doing it legally but there's a huge issue with those. Millionaire games the tax system = grand. Someone games the welfare = scumbag.

I understand and agree. It's a pain in the hole to follow because it's split all over the place. The mods could merge though.

This one will probably sink to the bottom though. I didn't expect it to last beyond a few posts. Will be off the front page in an hour

What about the politicians who game that system by doing the same and hanging on for years past their sell by date?

Also leeches on the state coffers.

They get what the voters deserve - stand for office, get elected - Ka-ching!

Michael D got elected by the people whether you like it or not. And again their salary from the state is legal and fully known.

Bono pays personal tax as he resides here, U2 (his company) dont.

Casey is the opposite, his businesses pay tax and he himself doesn't.

Theres a difference and both are fair game IMO. They both contribute more to the Irish economy than me, you or the entire membership of boards will in our lifetime.

...and dont tell me anyone on here wouldnt avoid tax legally if they could.

Fairly sure I seen Bono on Boards

Travellers probably pay more tax then Casey

Civil service is a much better racket. Get in and...well, that's it, you're sorted, Bob's yer uncle, job for life and guaranteed pension. Just relax from then on.
Maybe marginally less money than politics, but no reviews or targets and unless you murder someone, you're snug as a bug in a rug.

    Its called Double Taxation doh.

    It’s perfectly legal.

If you are paying tax in a country Ireland has a double tax agreement with then you don’t pay tax in Ireland.

Joan Burton in her nasally whiny voice criticised Casey for not paying tax, she knows full well he is doing nothing wrong.

It deflects from the travellers living off taxpayers from the permanently occupied cradle to the grave.

Would he have had to revoke his green card if elected? He said he would have but would it have been mandatory for him to do so?

Even ignoring the tax question I'm not sure it would sit right with me that someone on the path to citizenship of another state should hold the office of President.

President? Oh how lowly a position... I thought he was looking for a position of The Saviour of the Universe?

He doesnt pay income tax, no. But he pays tax to this country through his business. More tax than I do from my income tax anyway.

On top of the jobs he created, and subsequent economic activity.

He might be saving x amount on income tax, but still contributes more to Irish coffers than the average Joe, so not sure if he can be criticised really.

Éamon de Valera was a US citizen.

    That's me told :)

Although in fairness to Dev there was no Irish state when he was born and he did have a large role in creating one. I'd make an allowance.

Well, the Constitution requires only that the president be an Irish citizen, which Casey is. I don't think it would be fair to rule out people who are dual citizens or have green cards.

lol, he's not a poster here, everyone would be banned if that were applied.

Anyway, enough of these threads, closed.
