If your job is to maximise donations and you are paid an appropriate salary based on fundraising it is fine with me but when you claim to be charitable and are taking pay well in excess of what an average person earns from said charity you are taking the piss in my view.

That makes feck all sense ,

So if your a CEO of a charity you should only get paid the average persons wage to show your charitable,

If that was the case we would likely have no charities outside of religious funded ones or state ones which would still pay CEOS and other senior management teams big salaries

I didn't say that! I said portray yourself as a business person and CEO and not someone who has somehow sacrificed themselves for charity.

I'm presuming you were actually being serious here..

They have been participating much more in education in recent times.

Educational attainment among Travellers has risen strongly in the past 17 years, but it is still far lower than that of the general population, according to figures contained in a survey published today.

A national survey of Travellers has found that 16% now complete their Leaving Certificate, compared to just 2% in the year 2000.

It found that 40% of Travellers have completed their Junior Certificate or an equivalent, compared to just 9% 17 years
    ago.

Still piss poor compared to everyone else. The sooner their irrelevant 'traditions' die out, the better for everyone, including themselves.

There are loads of 'traditions' in this country that have no relevance or resonance with me but as a democrat I am happy to live and let live.

What is it with people and complete intolerance? The traveller community sure have loads of issues but who are you to say they should die out?

This particular 'custom' is anything but live and let live. Two fingers up to the law and the decent abiding citizens of this country, not to mention the poor animals. Scummy behaviour.

You should come here and experience the boy racers we are dealing with at the minute.

There are problems with disregard for other citizens everywhere. This cherrypicking bad behaviour game sure gets boring sometimes. Why? Because it means sweet fa.

Well no Francie because you're the one bringing 'customs' and 'traditions' in to it. These sulky races are intrinsically linked with the Travelling community so your analogy and argument fails.

And occasionally they cause problems that should be dealt with by the laws governing this behaviour and condemned by settled and traveller alike.

It's not worth a whole lot since you can vote as many times as you want on their polls

    Seriously people Really?
    Peter fricking Casey.
The racist who wants to create more tension and divisions in society.
    Ireland's version of Donald Trump.
People want to vote for him.
    This is bad, very bad.
    Ireland is screwed.
Anyway I voted to abstain as all the candidates are bloody terrible.

Only managed to watch a few minutes of the debate, couldn’t stomach anymore - how anyone could even consider voting against Michael D is beyond me.

He has more integrity and a better understanding of the presidency and all it entails than the rest of them put together.

Somehow I don’t think the poll on here really reflective of how people are going to vote.

Why we voted no on the presidential age referendum is beyond me. Plenty of talented people in this country who were born after 1983 whod have run rings around all 6

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,161 ✭✭✭Fann Linn

Better understanding perhaps. Integrity? Bringing your florist to Oz for a month. I 'll pass on integrity.

he clearly stated that his irish companies pay tax here

he also said due to his green card he must pay tax in US. is he lying???

So he wants to be President of Ireland but wants to keep his green card in the USA as well
    What a fcuking hypocrite.
Condemns others for not paying taxes and having an "entitlement culture" while choosing not to pay tax in Ireland himself.

All over yesterdays papers. Can't provide links just now but google 'Florist An Uachtaran'.

Of course you could if you really had such proof.

Anyway I’ve just googled it and the only one I saw was The Sun which could hardly be considered the pinnacle of newspapers nor a reliable source.

But even they state that that was a State Trip. Yes the Florist went but where does it state that she’s not allowed to accompany him or that her doing so should entitle us to assume he’s having an affair?

The words straws and clutching come to mind.

No one is saying he's having an affair with the florist.

The problem is that he isn't providing any explanation for why he or Sabina needs a florist as part of his entourage.

Just another one of the bizarre unexplained staffing decisions and relationships to add to the list

So you found it. And then you shoot the messenger. Fine.

Well he has been suckling at the taxpayers teat for over fifty years. Plenty of time to get to understand how to milk the Irish people as president. Caviar crusader.

I’m not shooting anyone, just telling you how I read it and pointing out that’s it’s not ‘all over the papers’ as you put.

You miss the part where he said that he was in the process of getting rid of his green card, and that it wa s a drawn out process but should be completed by next week??

Why is it that when someone does well for themselves they are assumed to be milking it or screwing someone else?
