Peter Casey is enjoying himself. I reckon he's realised that he won't reach a quota to get his expenses back and is now just having the craic.

He's gearing up for a future tilt at an Oireachtas seat...

He could get a Seanad seat like that fella that was going to run but couldnt get nominated-Craufhwell. Eventually he got nominated by a council panel for the Seanad

I'm seriously tempted to change my vote from Michael D to Casey.
It's a wake up call for our government and all politicians if they see we elected a man who is not afraid to say it as he sees it.

How did Gallagher almost win in 2011?

I don't think he's presidential material. Going by the thread no one likes him. How did he lead until tweetgate last time?

What do they do during the commercial break?

Gallagher will still be taking about 2011 when it comes back on

What exactly has he proved? He's a career politician and a hypocrite who has spent the last 7 years (still) living off the taxpayer and pontificating, yet to the credit of his handlers has somehow been transformed into some sort of loveable leprechaun type figure.

The same handlers he’s thrown under the bus numerous times this campaign.

Most of us enjoying Casey's madness while others are actually taking him seriously.

He's the only one giving straight answers. The rest of them are spoofers especially Gallagher and MDH.

    Really weak from Gallagher there

He comes across as petty and arrogant

    “I led by example”

    Please.

    Spare us the condescending rubbish

There is an underlying anger and sense of entitlement to Higgins' delivery. It may not be intentional but it almost seems like he is treating this election just as an inconvenience to his presidency.

FFS!!! he is the President of this country. I’d be angry too. He has proved himself over the last 7years , UNLIKE any of the others especially Gallagher . I think the President should have a Lear Jet , why not ? Theresa May has one , Leo Vararker uses it all the time !

    Proved himself doing what exactly?

    She looks disinterested and disillusioned.

I thought she was reasonably strong early on in the campaign apart from not having a clue what the President can and cant do.

She seems to have spent most of her time canvassing in Munster, so this is really just about her MEP re-election.

Gallagher is a strange mix of disingenuous and delusional.

Casey looks like hes thoroughly enjoying this, while the others are getting all flustered

He probably feels a little like Claudio Ranieri.

Can he sue RTE for emotional distress?

Why is Gallagher getting so much time?

Because 20% of the program has to be of comedic value...new BAI rules.

According to the cso nearly 1 in 2 (44%)Irish travellers have 5 kids or more compared to 1 in 24 of the general population.

80% of travellers are unemployed & 11% of travellers are on disability compared to 4% of the general population.

Ordinary people notice these things & it angers them when they act responsibly & have 1 or 2 kids work pay the taxes. These people will throw Casey a few votes

It's a narrative that seems to have popped up since that election. He finished second, well clear of MMG but never looked like winning during the count.

Watching all the candidates lined up. Who's the standout?

    Michael Flea Higgins. :p

He's over beside the two females. That was definitely strategic. It's a little thing but still noticeable. Just about.

Other than Casey who isn’t a politician. The rest of those f**cking clowns up there, you’d know why this country is the way it is. Don’t take a position on anything ! I’m offended by their blandness and insincerity!

    Racist.

It's absolutely ridiculous that these six people are the only candidates for the public to vote for.

Not one of them are fit to be the President of Ireland.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 533 ✭✭✭TheBigEvil

It's a joke of a debate. No one laying out their vision for the Presidency. In fact it is not a debate at all.

"Why didnt you turn up for the debate", "you're a racist", "you don't create jobs"..."i got EU funds"...... f*ck me.... nauseating!

Embarrassing stuff , really is. Not a big fan of Michael D, but glad he is running, as the other 5 are clowns. Plus Michael D has dogs, which plays well :)

Yep, put him beside the 2 weakest candidates so he looks strong lmao
