Problem with Twin Impeller Shower Pump

Greetings. I have a Damixa 3 bar twin impeller shower pump which looks for all the world like a decent Grundfos one, brass fittings etc and has given us sterling service for seven years since we moved into our (new) house.

It is triggered by the water flow when you turn on the shower, and normally shuts off when you close the tap. However, lately it shuts down, then some time later it tries to start (for a second), the stops, then immediately starts again for a second, so it's "hunting" on-off-on-off and the only thing that stops it is switching the unit off at the mains.

If you turn it back on, it behaves itself, until you have a shower then it starts the off-on-off-on cycle all over again.

Any ideas on what could be wrong and what could be done about it, short of the expense of replacing the pump would be really welcome

    Thanks
