Here's another pair of horrors but not nearly the coverage (white)

    https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/oct/18/fred-and-rosemary-west-of-barry-sentenced-to-total-of-36-years
A husband and wife nicknamed Fred and Rosemary West in their south Wales town have been jailed for grooming and raping teenage girls over three decades.

Peter Griffiths, 65, and Avril Griffiths, 61, repeatedly abused the girls at their home in Barry, in their van and during parties on a boat.

During the pair’s trial, claims were made that police officers were present when a girl was raped on a boat. South Wales police said it was investigating allegations of contact between officers and Peter Griffiths.

The couple were found guilty of rape, indecent assault and taking indecent photos of a child relating to three female victims between 1978 and 1993. Two further women have come forward to allege they were also attacked by the pair.

What do you mean “not nearly the coverage”? There was a media ban on the Huddersfield case therefore there was NO coverage!

Didn't realise it was a competition.

Trust me on this if it were a 100m dash the Huddersfield case would win in the media race to sensation every time. These people come in all colours and creeds.

What's that got to do with the Huddersfield case?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,442 ✭✭✭✭Grayson

    That is fcuking horrible.

Don't know how he got only 18 years as a minimum for that many crimes. I'd imagine it's one of those things where the sentance is longer but that's the soonest he can get parole. And hopefully he serves longer.
It can now be reported that the ringleader of the group, 35-year-old Amere Singh Dhaliwal, was jailed for life to serve a minimum of 18 years after being found guilty of 54 offences, including countless rapes of children.
The court heard the married father-of-two committed countless rapes, incited child prostitution, trafficked girls across the region and filmed their abuse on his mobile phone.

Can you imagine if you found out your spouse/father was one of those guys.

True. And the cases are different but there's similarities too. In that second case there's a possibility that the police were involved.

Eh? Didn't you read the Murphy report. We've had plenty of home grown similarly lovely characters. And have exported plenty of them all over the developing world too.

I think he got life. It would be interesting to know how long people who get life actually spend in prison in general.

Anyway he actually deserves to spend his life in prison, it's utterly horrific what they did.

Of course it would, and should. the fact that twenty scumbags were convicted in Huddersfield is pretty eye opening. There will always be child abusers unfortunately, usually operating solo, maybe even as a couple like those two.
However when 20 people get done, there is serious issues. These scumbags didn't link up over the Internet, they knew each other. How many in the Pakistani community knew about this n said nothing? Hundreds? It only came to light because some of the girls came forward. Not remotely good enough.

    The Telegraph summaries it here
    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/10/19/twenty-men-grooming-gang-jailed-inhuman-abuse-victims-young/
It is by no means a unique case to Yorkshire, or indeed Engerland:
The pattern of large-scale exploitation of mainly white girls by groups of men of mainly Pakistani heritage uncovered by West Yorkshire Police in Huddersfield mirrors what has happened in a number of other towns including Rotherham, Rochdale and Telford.

Not similar to homegrown offenders. There's a very distinct character to the offences carried out by 'Asian' men in the UK. 84% of those convicted of Type 2 grooming/sexual abuse of children are 'Asian'.

There is clearly native offenders, but they commit different types of offences: Type 1, motivated by a specific desire to abuse children. Type 2 gangs target their victims based on them being vulnerable. That they are children is coincidental. Its not one and the same.

Its quite telling that none of the convicted express any remorse. This is fairly typical for other Asian gangs. They don't feel any guilt, they believe their victims deserved it. They operated almost openly. Does anyone think that 18 men can keep a secret? That no one in their families or neighbourhoods noticed what they were doing?

Whats even more telling is that a UK minister had to resign over the Windrush issue. Who has resigned over this? Is there even any pressure for anyone to take responsibility?

Not many may agree but personally I think these people should be put down.
They are of no benefit whatsoever to society and will now cost the taxpayer millions as they are housed for the next few years. Seriously, what is the point of their existence?
It's incredibly unlikely that any one of them will ever make a meaningful contribution to society.
    The whole story is sickening

I think Javid ordered investigation if Asian region around Pakistan is disproportionally represented in these crimes. It probably helps that minister of Pakistani origin is tackling this although it shouldn't matter.

But those who think closing borders will solve the problem are idiots. There is a case investigated in Ireland where there seems to be serious child abuse and grooming for generations and only very limited reporting is allowed at the moment.

It’s just the tip of the iceberg, the court heard many perpetrators have never been identified.
Bastards the lot of them,I don’t fancy their chances in gaol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,236 ✭✭✭Pkiernan

Why isn't this prosecuted as a hate crime?

It was clearly religion and race based targeting of the victims.

Didn't realise it was a competition.

Theres only one winner in that two horse race: 20 strong "Muslim rape gang" with 15 known victims V Single white paedo with 5 known victims.

Things may have changed a bit now, but I know that a lot of this was swept under the carpet for a long time because politicians were scared to tackle it for fear of being labelled racist. It allowed this to continue for longer than it should have.

I've heard people argue that these kind of people can be rehabilitated and they might be right. But do they deserve to be rehabilitated? Should be thrown in a small cell for the rest of their lives and offered euthanasia.
