Still looks a bit far from release. Despite then wanting to distance themselves from Last of Us comparison it's close enough to be an unofficial spinoff

The 1st hour vid looks good. I'd usually avoid openings of games but this seems to be a way off so interested to see how it plays. Newt's 'zombie kids' look class. Game is looking good!

Yeah jesus, anybody looking at the gameplay for that would easily mistake it for TLOU2, from the aiming/throwing to how you move, heck even the way items are seen and picked up is a direct copy from TLOU, wtf

Well its not that far off zero, early next year :D.

Crafting is much the same, I laughed when the journo asked do you throw the bottles as distractions & he said no it's for making a molotov. I worry that the way your bike is important will be blown out of the water pre release by Rockstar with how they handle horses in Red Dead 2 as more than just transport.
Well its not that far off zero, early next year :D.

Wouldn't be surprised if it got released this time next year. Just stuff like the melee animations, aiming of weapons, bland voiceacting & overall polish was lacking. I am not expecting it to look God of War good with all the simultaneous on screen "freakers" but it looks like a game early in a generation in some areas. Trust Bend to make a good game.

Wasn't convinced about this game and still am not after the 1 hour video. Looks like bland amorphous triple A checklist ticking. Hoping it surprises me like god of war.

What would worry me is if it went down a mad Max route of having to focus on building your bike. Great feature but padded to **** to extend gaming time. I'd say it will be closer to Mad Max than Last of Us anyway, definitely doesn't look to have the AAA quality of GoW or TLoU but looking forward to seeing more.

Not seeing anything new or original here, but could still be well polished enough at release to be worth a play.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,435 ✭✭✭wandatowell

They wanted to make the biking as realistic as possible........Keep at it lads

Will be released on February 22nd 2019

    New trailer.

Dunno, this looks very middle of the road to me...

Think it'll be a rare miss for one of Sony's big mega-exclusives.

Release date has now been pushed back to 26th April 2019. Says it's to avoid the crowded February release window.
    https://blog.eu.playstation.com/2018/10/19/playstations-worldwide-studios-release-line-up-the-next-wave-of-ps4-games/
We want to share a change in release date for this highly anticipated title from Bend Studio. We recently decided to move the release of Days Gone from the crowded February timeframe to 26th April 2019.

While the studio is eager to see Days Gone in the hands of fans, Bend Studio will take the opportunity to further polish Days Gone.

Definitely a smart move. February/March is already jam packed and a bit more time will hopefully give them a chance to address some issues reviewers had about the game.

It needs to stay as far away from TLOU 2s release date as it can 'cos there's only one winner there.

TLOU2's release date won't be near April 2019. It's probably not even going to be 2019 at all.

Had it in my head it was March next year but I must be mixing it up with the Division 2. I have a TLOU2 dynamic theme on the PS and it's just making me more anxious to play it.

Nearly forgot about the game till I got an e-mail from Amazon today telling me my order had been upgraded to a steelbook edition.

Back log is still loaded so won't be getting it at launch, but I am looking forward to getting around to it.

I'll probably get it, but not expecting great things from it. Few other games to finish first.

hoping its a silent hit like a few other sp games lately

I'm looking forward to it. Don't think it'll reach the heights of other PS exclusives from previous years, but I think it could still be a solid play, hopefully with a good story. Still kinda too hard to fully judge though. The weeks before release will be interesting.

They talk about Days Gone on the Splitscreen podcast this week. Haven't heard it yet but based on the shows title they seem impressed.

6 hours of cutscenes? they better be very good or very skippable. Skillup has a video up on youtube after playing it for three hours, looks good.
    couple of negatives
    - it's been six years in development and not adding much to the genre
    - weapons feel under powered but this may be because they need to be levelled up

Pretty negative preview after the hands on from metro gamecentral:

    https://metro.co.uk/2019/03/06/days-gone-hands-on-preview-and-interview-we-have-the-ingredients-to-create-a-really-unique-experience-8826097/

Pretty much reinforces all my fears about how banal the game sounds like it will be.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,901 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

As a Walking Dead/ Sons of Anarchy 'em up, this is very appealing to me. I know it screams generic but I definitely want to play it. GS offering 50 quid for Red Dead 2 if you preorder it makes even more tempting. Anyway, just under a month to go, will wait till much closer to release before deciding.

Some new gameplay and info on the game

Devs talking about how they programmed the Hordes. Some nice details in this, pity IGN recorded the devs audio with a potato.

^^^ Nice, no difficulty or really stupid ones. Like most of the big PS4 exclusives, the trophy list is basically just "Do everything in the game and you'll get the platinum"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,901 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

Pre-ordered today, guess I'm all in now. Avengers End Game Thursday, Days Gone Friday, roll on the end of the month.

I like what they're aiming for. Whether they get there or not is another thing, but if reviews are solid, I'm in.

Having said that, I'll never be okay with playing a character named Deacon Fecking St John.

I'll probably pre-order Days Gone to get the bonuses, but might wait a week or two before playing it. Mortal Kombat 11 is out on the Tuesday and hope to be up to my guts in guts :D

Some new gameplay uploaded, the guy likes going in gun blazing. Human enemies are fairly average but the freakers are relentless. One great bit on a broken road, kills 3 or 4 and then looks over the railing to see 20+ running towards him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,901 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

Game will be 67gb's and the review embargo lifts day before release 25th April 1pm Irish time.

Some influencers got a cool kit sent out to them.

Review embargo lifting the day before release is never a good sign imo. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Why? It's before release not after or on the day.
Nobody is putting a gun to anyone's head with pre-orders. I think everyone knows the risk of doing that with any game.

I think the majority of review embargo's are the day before releases these days. Red Dead 2 review was a day before release as well, nothing to worry about.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

I think the difference is R* has the benefit of the doubt because they have a long successful history so in their case it was most probably to safeguard aganst spoilers.

I'd argue the reviews of some of their games in particular GTA IV & RDR2 were still way off the mark even when they did arrive.
I fully expect Days Gone to get favourable but not stellar reviews.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 51,829 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

Sony has usually given a week or more before release at Thier embargo date. Two human was day before. I'm thinking theyve not got faith in glowing reviews for this one.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,803 ✭✭✭Benzino

It seems like I'm outta touch so, thought it was usually a week for most games.
