If you mean the wavy star lights around the latin quarter and Abbeygate Street. They're there all year round now.

    This too shall pass.

    Spread across multiple locations maybe?

Hate the way that every promotion image of the Galway Market is of the superior one of about 3-4 years ago when it was covering Eyre Square.
They may aswell call it 'Galway Christmas Footpath Market' now

Used to love the market, still enjoy it, but having it on just half of a path is a disaster for trying to walk through.

    Yes :D

We need a good thread for people to get angry in since the City Gone Crazy thread was locked.

    Christmas Market vs Saturday Market
On the grass vs On the Paths
How the market impacts the traffic in Galway
    Eyre Square vs Spanish Arch

    Am I missing anything?

Should there be a dedicated cycle lane through through the Xmas market?

Should there be a free shuttle bus service from the beer tent to the Taxi Rank?

Nah, just a shuttle bus from the coach station.

If ya build a bike lane, you need somewhere for the feckers to park as well.

On a serious note, BT put up the big red bows and imitation tree-ish things outside their store today.

Agree - should be located where the cars and other vehicles in front of the Skeff/Eyre Sq Shopping Cente entrance park all day.

And that public sector worker will more than likely receive a raise this year!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 785 ✭✭✭topcat77

It could only happen in Galway.

The shops pay for the lights as far as I know. The GCBA collects funds every year and the "good" shops pay for them. Used to be the case anyways. The article mentions macnas contacting the GCBA about the boo boo.
