Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I am enjoying e01, though it didnt get great reviews on IMDB

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,533 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Watched the first one last night. Didn't totally grab me. I guess we are supposed to be rooting for the new guy, because it's hard to find anything likable about the rest of the characters (apart from maybe Nic and the Nigerian character).

Even in House, the lead was a dick but he was still likable. Hawkins is just a dick with no redeeming qualities.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,877 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Episode 2 was enjoyable as well.

I don't think we are supposed to like any of the doctors to be honest.

Nic and the intern are the likeable characters.

Matt Czuchry hasn't aged a day in the last decade.

The third episode was terrific. All characters are now more well rounded and likable (but still keeping a bit of the pilot episode's edginess). Even Hawkins and Bell.

Matt Czuchry hasn't aged a day in the last decade.

Has he managed to develop any more facial expressions yet? I can only recall a permanently constipated look throughout all 7 seasons of The Good Wife.

I've been enjoying this and this weeks ending sets up what could be a cracking storyline.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,130 ✭✭✭mel.b

That was a really good episode. Reminds me of something Robin Cook would write.

    Renewed for a 2nd season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,877 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

That was a very enjoyable season of tv.

A note to tv writers that's how to do an ending to a season if you are not sure you will be renewed.

Closure to the main storyline no major cliffhangers and threads left to build on in a new season.

    Glad it got renewed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,533 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Finished this off over the last few days. The last 5 or 6 episodes were excellent.

Really looking forward to season 2 now.

Moran Atias (PR chief Renata Morali), Merrin Dungey (ex-CEO Claire Thorpe) and Melina Kanakaredes (incarcerated oncologist Lane Hunter) will not be back for Season 2

Nice pair of cliffhangers on episode 9. Off now until mid-January.

    Devon is a muppet. :)

Great new episode this week. Still one unresolved cliffhanger.
Loved the ending to this one too - very dark, but I think it was fair.

I think Nic is going to get in trouble with the new guy. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,144 ✭✭✭stargazer 68

Lol nic and the new guy are definitely going to be a storyline but hey ho who wouldn't want to get into trouble with him :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,533 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Still enjoying this season. I wonder if Julian is actually gone? I don't think they ever found her body.

It took me a while to warm to Malcolm-Jamal Warner's character, but he won me over. A really great character.

No they haven't - but they don't seem to be looking too hard for her either!
Yeah - Im warming to him as the season goes on.

I really shouldn't watch back to back medical drama's,

Between this and The Good Doctor on a Tuesday they pull at the heart strings.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,533 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

The latest episode of this was great (it was last week's but I just got to it today).
The whole Quo Vadis storyline is very well done.

Gordon needs a mustache to twirl though... he lays on the villainy a bit thick sometimes.

    Two to go...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,533 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Fantastic penultimate episode. Didn't think it would go down like that. :)

    I actually fist-pumped at
    the confession
    .
Spectacular stunt at the end too.

Hard to know what's going to happen in the last episode.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,144 ✭✭✭stargazer 68

That was a great episode - didn't realise next week was the last one but 9-1-1 is back so hey ho :)
They need to tie up the Julian bit I think - can't just leave it

The finale was a huge misstep. They should have re-edited the last two episodes to have the QuoVadis/Gordon Page stuff during the last episode.

Julian coming back like that was just weird and anti-climactic.

    The last scene was pointless.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,533 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

I see that it wasn't the finale after all. :o

At least two more episodes (tonight and in 2 weeks).

Does anyone know when this is coming back on Universal? Stopped on 12th March & I think there's been a couple of episodes Stateside since.

Another show shut down, However they have donated all the PPE gear they use on the show to a local hospital masks, gloves gowns etc.

"Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping." .
To the entire team @theresidentonfox, thank you for this incredibly generous donation of #PPE from your set, including gowns, masks, gloves, and all the things our healthcare workers need to provide safe care for our community during #COVID19. .
Yesterday, I had a serious discussion with the residents about how, though supplies are low, a magical shipment of masks is unlikely to arrive. And yet, a magical shipment of masks DID arrive, in the form of this very generous gesture. This kind of community support means so much to our #frontlineproviders who are making many sacrifices to staff our hospitals and care for our community.
    .
Thank you, @theresidentonfox and @foxtv for being helpers. We needed this kind of good news today.
    .
PS: Sorry it's not a great pic, but the focus was not on the photo at the time. Similarly, the team @theresidentonfox are good citizens doing good deeds and not looking for a shout out. Though I encourage all to support The Resident and the great team behind the show and to pay their good deed forward any way you can. .

A mention of the coronavirus at the start of this weeks episode!

    Coincidence or added in.

They would have been shooting this episode 6/8 weeks ago or so when it was just in China so I wonder were they just being topical.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,533 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Coronavirus has been around for years (including SARS and MERS). COVID-19 is a strain.
    Maybe a coincidence.

Haven't watched the episode yet though. :)

Well I'm glad I only found this thread now and wasn't spoiled by seeing that departure posted till the episode aired last night.

Lucky you. It was spoiled weeks ago (everywhere). 🙂

    Rough episode. Heartbreaking.

That's an interesting twist at the end of episode 5.

I read an interview with the Executive Producer on Facebook (after I watched the episode, thank God) and it's genuine. Things are going to be quite different next week...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,533 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Not the massive shakeup I was expecting. Some more facial hair and a very cute GiGi. 🙂

Loved the dinner scene at the end.

I think Conrad will be back soon.
