Your contract is with the retailer and not the manufacturer so youd have to go through vodafone.

Also on this point, Google do support your device if purchased from elsewhere (Carphone warehouse, Clove.IE, EE in the UK etc). Thats how it was for the Pixel 1 and 2 anyway.

Looks like you just need to provide a purchase receipt and they deal with it. Obviously when you buy via google they have the purchase on record which means no receipt is required. And the other major difference is they won't be able to provide the option where you can get a replacement phone sent out before returning the defective one.

From what I've read online this seems to be the main disadvantage. It's a pity because it's an excellent service, meaning you don't go without your phone for any amount of time. That said, I don't think it's worth an extra 120 quid to have that option!

    530 euro only, oof.

Most likely id be going for the smaller pixel 3 from Vodafone, looks great.

Is that all?Gone down alot since the new ones came out! Stick it up on adverts.ie and youd prob get 700-750 for it. Got a 2 month old one myself on eBay for 660 last week + 25 postage

Yeah may try that! Its perfect condition always in a case and has had a screen protector since day one, so once reviews and when people confirm about vodafone bloat etc, will stick it up there :)

Can't remember if I asked this (I'd meant to anwyay), but how does the free 6 months of Youtube Premium (or Music, I can't remember) work if you're already a subscriber?

Taken from the terms and conditions on the Google Store:
    Terms and conditions

This YouTube Music Premium 6 month extended free trial offer is only open to residents of Ireland who activate a Pixel 3 before 31 December 2018. Offer only available to customers who are not YouTube Premium, YouTube Music Premium or Google Play Music subscribers, have not been YouTube Premium, YouTube Music Premium, YouTube Red or Google Play Music subscribers nor participated in a YouTube Red or Google Play Music trial before. Offer must be redeemed by 31 January 2019

Basically, you don't get it. Alternatively, you cancel your subscription, then take out the free 6 month sub under a new throwaway google account.

After seeing the Mrs changing to a new account after we were married and what two accounts on a phone is like, I'd rather just keep paying than have another.

It's not all that bad. I had 3 months free Google Music a year or two ago, and I just switched to that account when using the music app. Would be a bit more hassle for YouTube, where I have a lot of subscriptions etc.

For the record, I have something like 7 or 8 Google accounts on my phone. Most are fairly inactive though.

I think I've only about 5 but only one gets signed in on the phone. The others get the Gmail checked via an incognito window in case they ever stay on the phone.

First actual review I've seen. Fairly positive considering she's ex iVerge. Does sound exactly what I'm looking for though.

Do Vodafone shops have demo units in yet? Wouldn't mind sizing them up in person. Tried calling the local one today and couldn't get an answer.

I'm puzzled as to whether my Vodafone order is cancelled or not. I presume the order numbers increment?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 26,658 ✭✭✭✭OldMrBrennan83

Is this cancelled or two separate orders with one cancelled and one active? The two order numbers are different on each line.
I did go through the process of an order right through to the payment page (but didn't pay) and then went back and did another for collection instead. Not sure if that one counts as an actual order or if they've cancelled my actual order.

How are you even getting to this order page? When I try to order as upgrade it's just bringing me to a page that logs my contact details with a promise that an agent will get back to me

Camera reviews doesn’t look promising. Images are sharper on iphone XS max and Note 9

    Links please?

I think the Pixel will continue to excel in poor light/tricky shooting conditions.

I have the Note 9, and I wouldn't say that the camera is that amazing. It's around the same as the last few phones I've had. I don't blow images up to full resolution and inspect them, though. It's more based on how many images turn out looking 'nice'.

Iv said it before and I'll say it again, Note 9 camera is poor. Mostly in low light and with moving subjects like kids and pets. Even 'good' day shots have that distinctive Samsung softening. Its widely reported if any cares to look how bad it is with people crying out for a software update.

My Note is sold and I picked up a cheap Pixel 2 xl to keep me going and the camera is so much better. If you to believe DXO rankings and YouTube reviews this shouldn't be the case.

As always, it's a case of what you use your camera for. I don't think the Note 9 has a bad camera, it's around the same level as my U11 was, but it has the advantage of having the second zoom lens.

In any case, I don't think there's any concern about the Pixel 3 camera. It will be as good as the best out there.

    100% i wouldn't doubt the Pixel 3 for a second.

    Pixel 3 wins for me

The 9 or 10 I've read/watched haven't anything bad to say at all, though I wouldn't mind seeing the one mentioned on the last page in case a reviewer has seen something bad the rest haven't.

Checked the pixel 3xl out in Best buy this evening. They said they confident they can sell me one Friday but they are pretty sure they sim locked to Verizon. I'm going to try it Friday anyway and pay the restocking fee if it doesn't work. Any info ive seen suggests that the Verizon version are boatloder locked but sim unlocked.. The phone is lovely.. Screen is brilliant and the software was really snappy. The notch while big I can live with.. Fingers cross for Friday morning!

I have the Note 9 as well and was wondering how you are finding the front facing camera, especially at night time? I'm not impressed at all and actually feel there's something wrong with my device it's been so bad!!

    Thanks,
    M
