Heaney and Annett started for Worcester. I always rated Annett. Good to see the Irish doing well across the pond.

    12-49 to Ulster A

2 more tries for Aaron Sexton. I think that's 7 he has scored in the Celtic Cup this season. Not bad for a schoolboy. This kid seems to be a ridiculous prospect who frankly if he wasn't still at school would probably be fast tracked into the senior squad even now.

Imagine him playing in the Schools Cup after Christmas!

Was impressed with Addison, the fact Joe Schmidt had him training with the ireland squad in Australia marks him out as very much on the path to an ireland call-up this November, I wonder which player will lose out, scannell is probably most at risk

Scannell hasn't really been part of the squad over the last year or so, so he wouldn't be at risk of losing a spot he never had.

If Addison was to get called up, he'd most likely take Chris Farrell's spot, as he's still out injured.

Watched a recording of the game last night. Second half was pretty heartening.

Henderson is an absolute machine. Accurate and tough in contact, stopping Tigers’ carriers dead, great in the air, pouncing on loose balls, and he constantly had Ben Youngs under pressure when box kicking. Fantastic player. Stockdale very good as well, as was Alan O’Connor. Addison is so agile and opportunistic. I wonder if we might see him in centre again when Ludik’s back (or indeed if Lowry will get more chances at FB, keeping Addison at 13).

Billy Burns showed a bit more as well, I thought – a couple of smart kicks. Felt for Curtis getting absolutely clattered.

I watched the second half of Shoulder to Shoulder as well. It looked good, but that’s about it. Bit of a missed opportunity.

The interesting part about Shoulder to Shoulder were the interviews with the guys who played in the 70s/80s and early 90s. I wasn't too bothered by BODs journey of self discovery though.

Mad to think Willie John needed a bodyguard outside his hotel room in Dublin.

Ok- simple question that's been bugging me for quite a while: why doesn't the Ulster Rugby jersey have (& never has AFAIK) a single gold star above the UR emblem, the same way every other EC winner now seems to have one star for each EC won e.g. Leinster have 4 above theirs.

Now I know I'm leaving myself open to "because the English didn't play that season, so your European cup doesn't count" but is there any official reason or rules to this?

I don't believe so. Ulster have that win on the history books, so they're well entitled to wear it. It's down to choice I suppose.

    Do Munster have them?

They're tacky, and a bit fur coat and no knickers. ;)

Would rather we didn't bother. Munster don't have any either.

Right so- we're "classy" & on the moral high-ground above "tacky" Leinster:confused:

Nah, don't agree- no matter that we haven't won it in the 20 years since, IMHO we should still be proud of it.:o

Toulouse certainly used to, not sure about this season. Leicester don't, but Bath do. Toulon and Sarries also have them.

    Edit: Yep Toulouse have them.

I guarantee if we had one on the kit and someone criticised it, awec would be arguing the complete opposite ;)

A born and bred Ulsterman, in that case.

    Good lad himself.

"Ulster says the opposite of whatever those Papists say"

I think you'll find almost half of Ulster are Papists, and would be as ornery as those who don't have any truck with Papal infallibility or transubstantiation.

If that’s the case Awec must be the head of the church.

Settle down. You were the one complaining about 'grammar school nicknames' recently. Little to worry about.

    That was clearly a joke?

Some speed on Sexton. Forwards look more aggressive than anything we've produced in years.

Academy starting to put some effort in? Never made sense to me that Ulster couldn't produce players in sufficient numbers.

Ye I'm wanting to know more about Peter Cooper, he's a big boy but was released from academy. Same with Rea and Montgomery seem to be playing well.

Another concussion-induced retirement. Hopefully he stays symptom-free.

The numbers are really starting to mount up; let's keep that in mind the next time we're pissing and moaning about some guy getting a red card for a high shot.

That's awful. Best of luck to him.

    Sad news.

He started slowly but eventually became a solid performer when he turned out for us.

It's always a real shame to hear of a player calling it quits so early.
