Large Envelope rules? - Anpost

    Hi Guys,

I am working on an online business selling clothing and I was wondering about the "large envelope" category for Anpost. Most of my items will be about 200g to 500g (just under).

For a "large envelope" weighing between 250g to 500g then the price is 2.30 euros but for a "packet" of the same weight it is 4.50 euros.

My first question is, when they say "large envelope", does it actually need to be in a large envelope or can I use a polybag? And, my second question is does it need to fit through their "large envelope" template with ease (without touching the sides) or can it be pushed/pulled through?

Thanks, and any advice/tips on postage would be appreciated.

An Post are not overly strict on the 25mm depth. I used to send 30mm without issue

Not sure about the polybag, maybe ask them (there's a list of business managers for your area on their business page), but you can get postal approved cardboard envelopes https://www.lilpackaging.com/buy-packaging/envelope which may be another option.

Thanks for info. It looks like the lilpacking cardboard envelopes are for Royal Mail UK, do Anpost approve them as well do you know?

    Thanks

An Post are slightly larger 400mm x 300mm for large envelope

If the A4 size suits, (its bigger than A4, but fits A4 booklets) this will be cheaper https://www.packaging2buy.co.uk/cardboard-envelopes-book-mailers.html

My clothing product is posted in a poly bag, 2 items come to 270g and will fit through the size templete with ease.

As long as you can get it through, they will accept it. I've never had a package returned or had a insufficient postage sticker attached.

For larger orders, I use an post, but book through parcel2go.ie.

That is great to know, I am just starting out selling on Ebay, I know not easy but there seem to be few people selling stuff in Ireland so hopefully can use that in my favour. And, postal costs seem to be an issue but I found out about parcel2go is best for larger parcels as they obviously getting the cheaper rates with Anpost. Thanks and much appreciated!
