Tubi TV is Pretty good app for movies and series for the shield and 100% legal you will need a VPN as it's only available in the states obviously it's not as good as Netflix or all the illegal sites but if you want something that's free legal and good quality then it's worth a look. Anyone got any good recommendations for other apps. Obviously legal ones only.
I hope this wasn't already mentioned as I haven't read this whole thread

Hey guys anyone successfully paired a harmony remote with shield? I paired it with the hub via the app and it works ok using my phone but the remote keeps telling me to use the device I need to pair it.

Not sure how I did it originally but I do know that it had to be connected via bluetooth to the Shield if that helps.

I've since binned the remote though as I have a Horizon box.

It uses Bluetooth, you must have missed the prompt to pair them, it's a known bug. I had this issue. You have to use the pc software. The fix is to delete the Shield device completely from the Harmony software, then sync the remote. Then check the Shield accessories and delete the Harmony remote if it's listed. Close the Harmony software and open it again. Then add the device again in the Harmony software being careful. You should get a prompt to pair accessory

Edit, sorry on a reread it appears you're getting the prompt, yes you must accept it to pair using Bluetooth otherwise you'll not be able to turn on the Shield from standby

Hope you're not reference me bud?

The posts have been deleted. Not you

We need to be careful or the mods will lock the thread. Even posts asking for PM's draw the attention of the mods

Pm me if you've anything to say directly

Pm me if you've anything to say directly

As the other poster mentioned the posts have been deleted and they weren't from you!!

I don't want to or need to get into a pm conversation with some random person but for the sake of this valuable thread it would be pretty cool if people were not offering iptv services or offering information where to get them as for some strange reason boards see it as not acceptable but it is ok to openly discuss where to get counterfit jerseys and clothing in a dedicated thread.

People have been warned by other posters time after time not to be posting about IPTV or the thread will get closed but they keep ignoring this plea. Personally, I'd rather the Mods banned the posters from the thread rather than close it as it is really helpful for so many of us.

Does anyone know how/where to get and install the RTE Player app, or had any experience of it working? Can't get it on the Playstore, if anyone has the apk they can PM me, that would be great. Thanks! :D

Also, how or where can you find retro games like Nintendo and Atari stuff? I've had people asking me but haven't investigated the gaming side yet so don't know what to tell them.

I got the RTÉ App from my Android Tablet and side loaded it. It didn’t work if I remember correctly.

As for retro games, there are emulators on the store for most retro consoles. You need to source your own ROMs.
Or something like RetroArch will emulate most retro consoles.
Don’t ask where to source ROMs. It is against boards rules.

I got Retrox , it has all the emulators in one, snes , n64 etc up to PS1 . It costs $15 for the full version. I think with the free version you can store 6 games in the directory at time. Well worth the full version.

Edit: there are plenty of free emulators, but having them all in one is extremely handy

Thanks for all the replies! :)

However, I haven't a clue what most of them mean.... :o Is an emulator the app you need to "play" the games? Is the $15 a once off payment for Retrox? I presume that it's in the Playstore? Does the emulator contain any games or is it blank, so to speak? Where, or how, do you get the games in that case?

(Admin - apologies if my last question is for a discussion which isn't allowed or should be carried out via PM. If it is, please delete as I don't want to cause any hassle. Thanks)

Emulator 'emulates' other game stations/platforms, Retrox is a multi platform emulator. There are many free different ones, but for ease of setting up, GUI and allowing many different platforms, Retrox is considered one of the best.
Yep, an emulator is required to play most of the games from other platforms.
    Yes, one off payment.
You will be (legally) required to back up your own games (roms) and add them to the emulator. You can search "how to get roms for retrox".
The results should show you how to back them up.

I finally took the plunge and after years of actively avoiding Steam and sticking to consoles by setting up an account todaybto see how the streaming worked on shield.

Picked up a really cheap CD key for PES2018 and decided to see how gamestream stacked up with something other than the included Geforce Now games.

Must say I'm quite impressed with it, playing on a wired connection.

Have tried a few APK's and it doesn't work, no content plays.

Best bet is to use the RTE app and chrome cast.

Didn't realise they finally has support for Chromecast. When did they do that? Haven't tried the app in ages.

Are you using a VPN or something? I don't see Steam in the Play Store on the Shield.

It's in the Nvidia Games app under stores.
    Not using a VPN.
If you scroll thru the Nvidia Games a lot of them will show "Steam" and if you read the game description it will say you must own this game on Steam to play.

I thought this was for steam link where you had to own the game and have it installed on a PC.
Took a chance yesterday bought PES2018 and added the code to my steam client and could play the game on my Shield.
Finally got a decent footie game on it!

I’ve been letting the small fella play Lego Batman on the shield but it comes up with a connection problem (little wifi icon with 2 bars in the top right corner)every now and then and the game freezes
My shield is hard wired and internet is normally 40-60mbs and my connection is okay for Xbox one x online
Any idea what’s going wrong ?

I think the Nvidia servers are struggling. I get the same problem playing F1 2017.

I am a Shield owner for over 3 years, own 3 of the things and love them.
Use them for gaming, media streaming and Emulation.
Even used the free Geforce games and liked the streaming option it offered even if there game list was a bit limited.
    That said, I'm an idiot!
How have I only found out in the past week that it will also stream games from Steam!
I've missed out on so much...

I've just added GTAV to my steam account and have started off all over again!
There is so much more to play and do now!
Tell my wife I'm in the ManCave if she looks for me!

Anyone got any feedback on a 120gb usb 3 external ssd vs a 128gb usb 3.1 usb stick? I have an enclosure already so the ssd would actually be cheaper for me.

    I'm on a 360mb VM wired connection.
The blurb for geforce now says 5Ghz wifi and a minimum 10mb connection, I'd assume the same for steam.
