Looking for advice on zinc dormers on roof! Firstly is it better to frame out with 9x2 (more room for insulation between studs) and secondly does it need ventilation ? It will have a flat roof on top! Advice greatly appreciated on other aspects too as roofer is old school and hasn't much experience with zinc!

    Yes & yes

Couldn’t afford detailed drawings, but can afford zinc?

Note building regulation A,B,C & L - best to figure out compliance before you start.

Can’t he just look at the construction drawings?
Will the window open? Will it comply with part b fire safety?

    Yes the window will open!
Construction drawings are not the clearest I’m afraid!
    Thanks for reply

You need to go back to your Professional in that case is the best way forward.
You are carrying out works which effect every person that lives in the dwelling, it should be done correctly.

Who is signing off on the works as compliant with Planning and Building Regulations?

Our architect has drawing up spec on dormer but doesn’t show ventilation and also shows 4x2 for form work! Currently pricing 2 company’s for the zinc cladding and either won’t send on there detail until they have got the job!
So at a stand still until I receive quotes!

I wouldn't blame those companies, that's the norm.
Your Architect needs to detail this, or at least whoever is inspecting and certifying the works.

The zinc clad companies will then send the detail of how their system connects to your arch/eng structure.
