Just a question, why do men do the women's mini marathon dressed up as women? Not asking from a feminist point of view but its something that really bugs me. I do the marathon every year for the last 9 yrs and it really irritates me when I see them. Love to know am I the only one who feels like this and why do men feel the need to do it

It really irritates me when someone calls a 10k run/walk a “marathon”

    Women's 10k you mean?

Not sure why it's a women's only event to be honest.

I also find this weird. It's 'proudly' a women's-only event, and yet it's so patronising to the women who participate. As if they've done something more than they've actually done.:confused:

    facts are sexist :D

A belief in gender identity involves a level of faith as there is nothing tangible to prove its existence which, as something divorced from the physical body, is similar to the idea of a soul. - Colette Colfer

Misogyny please this isn't a feminist issue it's a 10k no matter what what you want to split it

Using 10K and marathon in the same sentence is a farce.
I know its designed to appeal to more people to get them off the fence and out running and that has to be applauded but jeez...listening to women afterwards saying they did a marathon when there's people who probably walk that every saturday night after the pubs makes a joke of it.

It amuses me how most women will drop the word 'mini' . It's a 10k end of.

It’s just a run folks, what harm who does or doesn’t do it, why does it need to be limited entry anyway.

its equality of outcome , we need to have a female only race in order to dramatically increase the numbers of women who get to complete a marathon

I took part in this for quite a few years as part of a work group. Raised a lot of money for charity, treated it as a bonding and fun day out. Some of the men wanted to be a part of it and as well as raising money for said charity, they also got to be part of the fun. The cost to them was....dress as a woman! It takes a strong man to dress as a woman (and some of them would have been our bosses!)AND run 10k. All fun really and at the end of the day the charity benefited and everyone had fun:D

    A. It is not a marathon. It's not even close to being a marathon.

    B. The participation of the men is not officially recognised.

    C. It's a concept called A Bit of Fun.

    D. But you know all this anyways and just like to stir.
