shes finally going to kill him ...........unless it makes a lot of money.

Well you won't be surprised to learn the writers for this have already written a sequel to this. They originally wanted to film 2 movies back to back but were worried if the first movie tanks the second would never see the light of day and it would be a waste of money.

So they're holding off until seeing how this one does at the box office.

The whole thing has just got a bit ridiculous. H20 was the first sequel to bypass all the other sequels. Now this ignores H20, so it's ignoring the sequels, even the sequel that ignored all the other sequels. They also want us to believe that Michael Myers was somehow taken into custody after being shot multiple times by Loomis at the end of H1, which kind of ruins the mystery surrounding him in a way. I hope it lives up to the hype but I fear the worst.

Now that they are disregarding all movies apart from the first one, I expect Michael won't be some indestructible killer this time (although he was still shot multiple times at the end of the first one, and fell from the balcony of the house). He will be in his 60s as well! Part of me expects that the killer won't be Michael; it will be some other escaped patient from the bus crash that assumes his identity by putting on the mask. Jamie lee Curtis will finally kill him, then take off the mask and see that it's a young guy wearing it, thus setting up a sequel.

To refresh my memory of the first movie, I watched this

I love these Dead Meat videos; very funny and entertaining :pac:

"The first reactions to the new Halloween film are in and they're incredible."

(Caveat - yeah, they could be plants, but it sounds promising).

I’d believe them. Danny McBride really seems like a true fanboy. He really seems to care about how the story progresses.

I don't know (and therefore trust) any of the people whose comments are quoted in that article, and I also don't particularly trust the article for two reasons:
    1) I'm of the opinion that Halloween is great and most of the sequels can jog on. I like The Return for its grim ending, but other than that they're all pretty pish IMO, continuity porn and fanservice with not a lot more to them, and
    2) Citing Carpenter's presence as EP as a reason to be optimistic is either very very naive (like "bag of magic beans" naive) or it's just plain ignorant, given that Carpenter's EP role did precisely nothing to help the Fog remake from being a turd.

For me, the fact that I have only seen half of one film by the director (Pineapple Express, upon which I gave up halfway through because I wasn't engaged by it or enjoying anything about it) and maybe 1.5 films involving Danny McBride (1/2 of Pineapple Express and This Is The End, in neither of which I considered him to be noteworthy) makes me think that this new film will be yet another film for people who are fans of the franchise as a whole, and since I'm not.... I'm not holding my breath. It'd be a pleasant surprise if it's decent, but a self selecting group of fans excited about seeing a preview are not likely to be an unbiased audience.

Didn’t realise this was from David Gordon Green until reading a few of the (mixed to positive, based on my twitter feed anyway) reactions. There is no director I can think of with such a weird career progression. Strange to think the guy behind the sublimely understated George Washington and some of those early arthouse efforts is behind this... but then I’d have said the same about Pineapple Express and Your Highness :pac: Never have any idea of what kind of quality to expect.

Well Danny McBride and David Gordon Green worked together on Eastbound and Down, one of the greatest (and most profane) comedy shows ever, so I'll give them a chance with this one (although season 4 of Eastbound and Down was muck, but they probably just did it for the money).

There's a reference to Halloween in Eastbound and Down; April, Kenny's ex-girlfriend, tries on a Kenny Powers official merchandise mask, and he tells her she looks like a retarded Michael Myers :pac:

A few from Collider are over at TIFF at the moment and they saw the Halloween premiere, namely Perri Nemiroff and Jeff Schneider. She is a big horror fan and he can be tough to please - both of them came away very happy indeed

I'm looking forward to seeing this film!

Looking forward to it now, especially given that it looks like The Predator may be a bit of a dud. Glad to hear them not mentioning jump/loud noise scares.

Aw that’s a pity. Any particular reason why the review isn’t making you look forward to it? Or is it just because those two liked it?

That’s pretty cool Jamie Lee Curtis turning up

It's getting decent reviews so far anyway. Looking forward to seeing it now. It would be great if some of the cinemas showed the original Halloween before the new one and sold it as a package. I know of some cinemas that did it with the recent Alien films and it was very successful.

Seems to be a few cinemas showing the same movie at the same time. Wonder is it like a live stream...

Anyone here actually remember seeing the original for the first time?
