Passport renewal previously dispensed of guardian signature

Hi all

Just wondering has anybody an answer previously i got a passport for my daughter and i had to go to court to get her fathers signature dispensed as he wouldnt sign passport. He has since disappeared for the past 4 years.

Her passport needs to be renewed do i have to start the process from start or do the court just give you updated letter or do i need it at all now for passport.

Any help appreciated

You need the passport application and her long form birth certificate and this

which you complete in front of a solicitor. No need to go to court.

we have joint guardianship though. the judge gave it to him when she was few months old. the same judge also said that i didnt need his signature for passport and the clerical officer gave me a form for her passport.

i'm just unsure about renewals as everything i look up is for the first time you get passport

Ouch. Looks like you’ll have to go back to court. What a nuisance.

Peace commissioner if you know one or contact a solicitor and they will advise.

I know someone in similar position and they have to get signed by a solicitor as the peace commissioner has since passed away that done it previous.

thanks for comments. i think i will have to ring the courts or flac tomorrow. it seems crazy to have to go to court every 5 years until she is 18 for a passport.

I did know another girl who had to do that. Very inconvenient.
