Yeah can read it two ways.

    1. He’s happy Eir are cooperating and will come to an arrangement with Enet and gov can sign off.

    2. Eir are digging their heals in on costs to access their network and poor Denis knows Leo and the boys won’t cough up enough funds to cover governments share of costs..therefore Enet pulls out.

I’m kinda leaning towards number two just because I’ve completely lost faith in the department and goverment to deliver this after all the drop outs and delays.
    Hope I’m wrong!
I really hope Enet will pull out this weekend, At least we forget about this rubbish and try something else.

Well here's hoping something happens today, albeit I'm hoping for a positive outcome due to living in an amber colored world.

Two ways I see it going; the thing falling apart/watering down or face-palming at the over the odds cost to line eir's pockets to save political face.

If it does fall apart, it will be because they over-promised and I (and my 3 dongle) won't feel much empathy for those who have to pay the price.

Communications minister Denis Naughten is close to finalising a deal on the national broadband plan with the Enet consortium, with an announcement possibly taking place at the Ploughing Championships this week.

After utilities group SSE exited the bidding consortium in July, both the government and Enet committed to a signing of the plan by “the autumn”.

Sources say negotiations on the final details were being thrashed out last week, with a view to launching the plan at the Ploughing Championships, which attracts 280,000 visitors. The event at Screggan, near Tullamore in Co Offaly, is the biggest date in the calendar of rural Ireland. “We are not commenting, as the bid process is ongoing,” said a spokesman for Enet.

Your post was probably the 'informed source'.

An enet staffer told me during the week that the buzz in the office was that there would be a big announcement at the ploughing. I'm sure Dinny the Second is putting on his wellies and foundation as we speak.

So I take it there was no announcements today as scheduled?

That felt like a waste of ten minutes if my life.

Stating the obvious and the known, and then saying that the NBP needs to be revised because 30mb DL speed is no longer adequate...we'll duh...thats why the nbp prefers and is feared towards fibre

I can only dream of 30mbps.

Pre-recorded. The Irishtimes says he visits tomorrow morning.

We will also broadcast a pre-recorded interview, in which AgriLand presenter Claire McCormack discusses key topics with An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar.
