The National Rifle Association takes on Thomas and Friends

The UN has recently partnered with the makers of Thomas and Friends (formerly Thomas the Tank Engine) to make a number of new episodes aimed at teaching "children the importance of taking part in the global efforts to end poverty, providing girls and boys with the same opportunities, and of course doing so while protecting our planet".

Russia funded organisation, the NRA, has taken particular exception to this. In particular, they have an issue with a new African female train in the show. They believe introducing gender and ethnicity into the show is unnecessary left wing propaganda. Obviously they haven't seen the show in a while because gender and ethnicity has been in it for a long time. They conclude their exposé by showing and image of Thomas and Friends in KKK hoods with tracks burning behind them in an attempt to bring humour to the show.

So are the NRA right to be highlighting this liberal leftist assault on our beloved childhood characters or has the Trump Train gone off the rails on this one? Also, what has any of this got to do with guns?

Yes, but he's now called Sir Toppen Hat.

There used to be a Thin Controller too.

In my day, he was just The Fat Controller.

This makes me think of the southern U.S. in the 1950s and 60s.

Yep. Who wore a top hat and told Thomas he was a very naughty engine.

The NRA is f'cked up, what's this got to do with guns? And you'd think they'd have learned their lesson after the weird threatening videos they put out last year

Where do you even start with this one. The NRA seems to be a parody of itself.

It's just mindboggling to see what passes for normal political debate over there. You'd really have to wonder where an aspect of the US is headed.

I miss the days when cartoons sole purpose was to entertain

The politicising of childhood by the extreme left and right reminds me of the approach of organised religion.

So politicising children's cartoon's or books etc doesn't matter?

Would you have a problem if a popular children's cartoon was influenced by alt-right politics?

    No? Really?

    No? Really?

This isn't the first time a FICTIONAL TRAIN in a children's TV show has been from another country.

Are you comparing the UN to the extreme left here?

Had no idea the nutjobs in the NRA were funded by Russia.

    So let's get this straight.

You're claiming that by having a character of a different nationality in a children's TV show, then it's being politicized?

Captain Planet must have been awful for you.

Thomas the Tank Engine was already politicised - Gordon was an obvious Tory. A Protestant one too, with a name like that.

Which begs the question, will other aspects of the US, who arent utter fruit and nut cases be able to rescue it.

Love how the lefty cultists twist everything to suit their agenda. They are every bit as bad, if not worse, than the NRA nuts

It's very unsettling but you can see where the NRA are coming from on this one.

Is there/was there locomotives ever built in Africa? That’s the biggest problem I have with it, it would be unfeasible for a British railway to purchase an African locomotive.
