TP-LINK Powerline & F2000 router issue

Hello,

I have TP-LINK TL-WPA8630 Powerline Kit connected to my Eir F2000 router. I only use the ethernet on the TP-LINK. Whenever I try an internet speed test, once the upload test begins my internet connection drops. The internet and DSL light both go off on the router and the internet typically reconnects about 5 minutes later.

Rang Eircom, line tests out okay. They can see errors on the router so they sent me a new router which is experiencing the same issue. I've updated the the TP-LINK firmware. Any idea what the issue could be?

[Assuming testing with EoPs unplugged doesn't cause a drop]

EoP to POTS interference happens. Probably means your phone line runs parallel to a ring main somewhere in your house.

Stop using the TPs. They're a hack using power cables for data which they were never designed for so in some houses just aren't great.

TP's seemed the least crap solution to my problem. Phoneline & router are in the ground floor sitting room, the office is on the 3rd story. What's my best solution - NETGEAR Orbi?

Ethernet cable.

The trouble with homeplugs is they are completely hit or miss. There is no diagnosing or fixing it, power cables were not designed or installed to carry data. You will have to use another method.

You are best to run Ethernet. Take the cable outside, up and in. It's nearly always possible to find a route if you put some thought into it or get someone in the trade as they are used to planning cable routes like this.

Legit exactly what he said. You can find a route. It isn't as hard as you think with some careful planning and some grit. It could be under carpet, up a wall cavity, outside the house.

Just get a local electrician or apprentice even.

Do it yourself. It's as easy as this to crimp cable:

Don't buy that CCA cat5e (copper clad aluminium), it's crap. Get better cable at your local wholesalers like Kellihers

Id agree if this was a 100mb/s+ connection but honestly the cheaper you can get the better for this application IMO.

I'd say CCA if its the cheapest.

To be honest I only ever use Tough Cable and only come across CCA when its installed previously so I'll take your word on that and do some more research and testing myself.
