    Hello,

Ive decided that id like to allow for motorised blinds at some stage in the future. At this stage stage im wondering what type of electrics will I need to have installed for the blinds ? I want to have some background before i go talk to my sparky about it :)

The house is currently being first fixed for electrical.

Hi thebackbar, its been a while since your post. I am thinking of automated blinds and wondering did you go through with it and would you have any advice regarding them?

I'd appreciate similar advice from anyone who knows anything!

Going from memory, and having investigated this in the past, "most" Purchased systems are run off 12 Volt I believe, So dropping a 12v cable at each window would suffice, there's no accounting there for how you distribute said 12V however.

One thing I learned very quickly was the cost associated with motorized blinds, average price seemed to be 150 + for the assembly per roller. A quick google show's some models available for around £60 so perhaps, it's more cost effective now than before ??

If it is for velux windows you could be looking at a cable for the window motor, one for the blind motor and also for a rain sensor. If it was me I'd be running a 5 core cable to such window.
