Areas you have come so far and should be so happy with your self and proud.
I've been steadily loosing 1.5pounds most weeks.
I'm thinking of doing SP. Is it possible to do for a few days or does it have to be for the week? I've read all about it but can somebody confirm that's it's just S and P foods. So breakfast fryed mushrooms, tomatoes and scrambled eggs for example.

Well done Areas, you've changed your self-image, that's a massive achievement! (As well as the muscles OHHH YEAHHHH DIG IT!)

You're supposed to do it for an entire week to see the full benefits, def recommend doing the full dirty if you can. Yes just S & P foods, so it's quite restrictive (most of my go-to's are out: potatoes, rice, fat-free yogurt....) SW do have an SP weekly meal plan (ie 21 SP meals) that'd be worth looking into!

1.5lbs is a fantastic consistent loss! That's slap-bang in the sweet spot of weight loss and making sure your skin adjusts to it

My group talks about SP sometimes and some people do some SP days rather than a full week. You still get your Healthy Extra A and you get two Healthy Extra Bs which might make it more manageable. I've done a few SP days here and there but I didn't see any benefit and I found it too restrictive. Other people swear by it and get great results.

I was up 1.5 lbs last night. First gain since I joined. :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 288 ✭✭ally_pally

Sorry to hear that whelan2. It's so disappointing, especially if you feel like you've had a good week. For a while, I would avoid going if I thought I'd be up as I didn't want to break my streak of losing. I was only fooling myself though. Those were the weeks I needed to feel inspired by group, to help me move on from my gain, rather than staying at home hiding from it.

1.5 lbs is just a bump in the road. You've done brilliantly so far, you're keeping going on the right track and you'll absolutely get to your target. Chin up, it's a new week, lots of opportunity to make good choices and leave that small gain in the past.

Down four and a half this week. Delighted. Am a large person so a long way to go yet but into a new stone which is always a boost. Even had a takeaway this week but tried to make sensible choices in Camile.

I had a very bad Friday, Sat & Sun this week. I'm hoping that I have been good enough since Monday to off set the damage. Will find out tomorrow!

Hi, bit of a lurker! I do SW online. I was wondering if it's possible to have soup as your speed food as part of your meal? My lunch today was smoked salmon, an egg, a wrap (synned) and then broccoli soup. I wasn't in the mood for salad and it was just easy and what I had in the fridge. TIA

You can definitely use home made speedy soup as your speed. Supermarket soups will have syns.
I got a soupmaker last year, its the best kitchen gadget ever!

Absolutely. Cooked / stewed fruit needs to be synned. But veg cooked and made into soup is still speed and free.

Thanks. Yes it's homemade, I should have said. I rarely buy soup.

    Great, thanks.

Is there a reason why cooked fruit needs to be synned?

It sucks but It's to do with how easy it is to over eat & that your body doesn't have to work as much to process it.

Most would eat just one apple at a time but if you're eating stewed apple you are more than likely going to eat way more than the equivalent of one!
Same goes for banana, eat it normal & its free but if you mash it, it is syned.

To be honest, I'm not overly strict on this rule. If I know there is nothing added that has actual syns & I eat a normal portion I don't bother syning it... I only syn it if I eat a silly amount!

Guys what sausages do you eat?
I recently discovered Tesco reduced fat saussies are actually huge in syns (5 each) :( So they're being sidelined for post-weigh-in meals!

The only sausages I ever use is the Linda mc Cartneys rosemary and sage ones. They are syn free and taste meaty even though they are veggie.
Started back doing slimming world since Monday not sure whether to join a group or not. The one I went to before was very good but her classes were huge so you'd be there for 2 hours and I just don't want to listen to Marys spag bol recipe for the 5th time. Lol

Lashes maybe try a different group! It's made the world of difference to me.
This week I was n Dublin for work on 2 nights and even though I was staying in a hotel I made great choices and I'm putting it all down to my new group.
If I had stayed in my last group I would have spent the 2 nights eating crap. Instead I went to Nandos where I had a really low syn meal. I had fruit and naked noodles with me that I could have in the hotel room. I really feel like I owe it to my group and my new consultant to have a loss this week since they're being so supportive. I would never have done that with my old group!

Def try to find a good group! Makes a world of difference. The one I'm in has about two dozen people in these days and it's a 50 minute class, it's perfect. Also depends on the counsellor of course but feeling like you have support, some people to lean on, helps keep u on track!

How are u guys getting on this weekend?

Bro was v keen to get fast food so we ended up in KFC. But you'd be proud! I ordered corn on the cob, BBQ beans, diet drink (all free) and a chicken breast (6 syns). Tasted really good and stayed within syns :D

Lads did ye know about this gravy? Just made it with Sunday dinner and it was delish.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,014 ✭✭✭✭jaykhunter

I haven't but it sounds good! Is it comparable to the gravy stock pot you can get?

Everytime I made it with stock pot it was too runny..this was thick like regular gravy. Was very nice. Have had a good week so far. My at home weigh day is tomorrow. Be interesting to see how I get on.

I'll have to try that gravy, thanks!

Hi Lashes, where did you see this?

Edit: Sorry, just saw it on the SW app now.

People are going mental over this!

My thinking is if you eat any of the above in moderation you won't be using too many syns.
It's the people that are eating 3/4 muller lights per day (which can't be great for you anyway?!) will suffer the most.

It's like when they syned mug-shots, there was uproar...
People were having mugshots as snacks between meals, just because they could & because they were free. They are packing on extra calories which weather we like it or not, do count. Some people in my group were having two per day, that's an extra 400-500 cals of "free" food!

If I am having a mugshot as a part of a meal, for example for lunch with a salad, I don't syn it.
I usually have speedy fruits & a mullerlight for breakfast - I will continue to have this & I don't plan on synning it

My own rule is, if it was previously free & did me no harm before, I'm not synning it if I am eating it as part of a main meal.
I will only syn it if I am eating it between meals.

Ya I def think it's to curb abuse (people lamping into 5-6 yogurts as a substitute for a meal almost) but it sucks as it affects people who'd only have one per day (ie most people).

It's hit my breakfast (250g fat free yogurt) now starts at 1.25 syns; and dessert with a Muller light adds another syn to it. It won't affect my syns as I'm usually around 10/day but I'm not happy. You should get your first pot or 100g free! It makes me wonder about other free foods, like I smash boiled potatoes out of it, and it obviously has cals.

If you're looking for an alt, the fat free Greek yogurt/natural yogurt is still free - consider mashing some fruit and mixing it with to flavour, or I've seen flavour sachets might be tasty too.

Muller light - consider quark (unflavoured is free and tops!) or fromage frais, but I haven't seen that in donkey's so maybe try the quark

You soon get used to the natural yogurt. It's kind of like giving up sugar in tea for lent. You think you won't be able to and then suddenly even half a spoon in a cup tastes horrible.
Once you get used to the natural taste, you realise there are some very fake tasting flavours out there.

I tend to go for full fat Greek style or similar with no favouring as the carbs jump once they add stuff to it. I add cinnamon and a few drops of vanilla essence.
It's one way of avoiding the more artificial stuff.

Can I ask a silly question - I've gotten a bit confused by all this.

Was fat free natural yoghurt not always free? I've never synned it.

From what I've read it sounds like they were saying "fat free natural youghurt is now free!" but I thought it always was. Are they just trying to make this sound like a positive to soften the blow on the Muller Lights?

I think the Greek style yogurt used to be synned. Not a huge amount, but 1 or 2.
