    My optician refusing to give me my pupil distance, am I entitled to them seeing as they are my details? Thanks all.

    Definitely with GDPR. I know that dentists have to give you copies of their clinical notes and x rays off you if you request them.

    I sent an e-mail to my local Specsavers last year asking for my prescription and pupil distance, but I did give the reason that I needed it for setting up my virtual reality headset correctly, so they knew I wasn't going to competition.. and had just bought two pairs of glasses from them.

    So I guess they weren't so difficult then, but if you just went in for a discounted eye exam and went home requesting the information they might be trying to fob you off, but you ARE entitled to it. Just ring them up and mention GDPR legislation and they will have to give you it.

    He/she just doesn't want to give it to you because you are probably buying glasses online and not from them.

    Yeah that's it, but if you mention GDPR and that they are legally required to give it to you and get on their backs they will back down and have it over to you...

    I know I'll definitely order glasses online anymore if I have to - if I don't get laser that is !!!

    They can by rights charge extra for providing this, just FYI. I've never known someone to actually charge but they are within their rights too

    They could previously charge up to €6.35 for a data access request but after GDPR on the 25th of May 2018 this was abolished and they cannot charge you.

    I work in an industry and we have a lot of contact with dentists which is similar so I am familiar with the legislation.

    Ah but as the PD is part of the dispensing process, they can charge a fee for that if it is not already recorded on the eye test record.

    Ah fair enough, I was referencing anything that is on her record. If they don't record that then yeah sure. If you paid for an exam and they measured it and recorded it, then you would be entitled to receive that for free.
