    Just to separate this from the Irish chat as it’s a big week for the event with 10 games in 5 days. Results yesterday:

    Conor O’Donnell 1-0 Sam Collins
    Stephen Brady 1-0 Alex Pachalov
    Colm Daly 0-1 Tom O’Gorman

    Conor now needs 3.5/5 against:
    W: Colm, Stephen, Alvaro
    B: Tom, Alexiei

    Stephen needs 4.5/6, Colm needs 5/6, Tom needs 3/3, Michael De Verdier needs 4.5/6.

    For years I ran an event just like this for 1800-2200 players. All play all,games played in different clubs. It was always very well supported.Maybe something for the ICU to run in the future?

    Two games last night:
    David Fitzsimons 0-1 Tom O'Gorman
    Alexiei Bottino 0-1 Colm Daly

    Norm requirements:
    Conor O'Donnell 2.5/4
    Stephen Brady 3/4
    Colm Daly, Michael De Verdier 4/5

    Michael still has two of the sub 2000s to come, Conor has 1. Colm and Stephen have tougher run-ins.

    I've updated the crosstable to include colours to give a better picture of what's ahead of each player.

    Tom finishes the event with 5/9 which includes 2.5/3 against the IMs. I think he's gaining about 25 FIDE points

    Stephen finishes with an impressive 6.5/9 - half a point shy of a norm. Colm’s norm chances are now gone.

    As we’ve no other norm events this year, we’ll finish with 7 Norms achieved on this island in 2018. 2 GM and 5 IM.
