I see the ladies who didn't *leave/walk/pushed* from the Mayo team have made a statement.
Can we go a week without some level of controversy!!!

Reflects very badly on the carnacon crew based on that statement and other reports.

Did I see some twitter account mention betting suspended on Mayo manager?

Cora was on OTB AM this morning

    26.01.2019 (Saturday)
    (7.0): Mayo v Roscommon

    03.02.2019 (Sunday)
    TBC Tyrone v Mayo

    09.02.2019 (Saturday)
    (7.0): Mayo v Cavan

    23.02.2019 (Saturday)
    (7.0): Dublin v Mayo

    02.03.2019 (Saturday)
    (7.0): Mayo v Galway

    16.03.2019 (Saturday)
    (7.0): Kerry v Mayo

    24.03.2019 (Sunday)
    (2.0): Mayo v Monaghan

Two wins out of the first three would be essential to stay up, scrape a win somewhere else and that would keep you in Division 1 I’d say.

Win the first three, which is doable, and the rest would be gravy

In retrospect, when he made that statement not ruling himself out that kind of settled it. Hard to see why the CB wouldn't want him back...

The sky sports clip with himself and mcguinness convinced me he has it
Mcguinness laughing and Horan VERY sheepish

Win the first two home games and your guaranteed Div 1 status.
I was at Cavan`s first championship game and Roscommon`s home super 8 game. Both of them were absolutely clueless.
If Mayo beat both of them at home then their is no way either of them will take points of any team in Div 1 other than each other imo.

The Mayo GAA website, bloody hell  Went looking for the dates of the club cship knock out rounds, couldnt find anything. Managed to get them off my local club official but ridiculous that they are not up on it.

That sounds great in theory but do Mayo ever do things the easy way in the league? :pac:

We lost to Cavan at home last year IIRC in a key game, and Roscommon will be going gung-ho to retain their D1 status (maybe even with a new manager?)

I listened to Cora on OTB this morning and its hard to know what to make of it all. The statement released yesterday from the Mayo ladies football team clearly indicated there was no player welfare issues.
But this morning on OTB, Cora was claiming that all players( not just the Carnacon contingent) and back room members left for the very same reason as they felt it was no longer a "safe" environment to be in. Safe is a very strong word to use and would certainly indicate its something more than cheap hotel rooms or not being picked.
    Just keeps getting worse.

Ya thats not a great choice of words, if its not true then its a dangerous statement to use, but if it is then needs to be looked at immediately.

Its a different version of events of what I have heard from a former player, but all stories are out there.

Not just the ball in - lack of support too. From memory (not always reliable) most of the time the ball went in he had one man on him, one covering and often Cluxton over the top too. There often wasnt a Mayo player within 30 metres of him, so the Dublin defense didnt even need to win the ball clean - there was no Mayo man there feeding off the scraps.

    Exactly the issue.

If you play a full-forward against Dublin, with the aim of pumping in high ball, there are two other things you need to do.

Firstly, you need to leave him up there. Having him run around the field, chasing back after McCaffrey or McMahon won't do him any favours in contesting the high ball against two defenders.

Secondly, you can't leave up him up there on his own. You need a second forward to feed off the scraps.

The problem with all that is that you can no longer pack your own backline and Dublin can run at you. The last two points Dublin scored on Sunday, breaking away were evidence of that. Both could have been goals, if needed.

It would be really interesting, but you could end up with a very high-scoring game.

Sounds like that one from celebrity big brother who felt unsafe. Maybe she's from carnacon.

Rumours in the Rossies thread that McStay has resigned.

Himself and a group of players (past & current) were spotted bumping into each other in a cafe last Saturday. Could have been pure coincidence obviously.....

Very reliable person told me he had it* yesterday, hence my search for bookie odds but it was too late.

*Subject to them agreeing to his terms. It very much seems like the power is with Horan on the negotiation front. His initial statement certainly set the tone for it.

    Sans Liam.

    I'd imagine so.

Last time out it was a deal breaker that Liam was brought on board.

I'd quite like the idea of Horan and McStay.

A solid GAA mate told me this evening it was Horan and Solan but I don't think it was anything too solid.:D

    Mere speculation.

Still think it's James Horan plus one.:)

He has retired from intercounty management and has ruled himself out of the mayo job also.

So did Horan. Ruling yourself out is always the first step in negotiations :)

Oh I like the sound of Horan and Solan. I’m a little bit sad for Westport if Horan leaves so quickly as they look to have some big talents coming through, but it’s not my local club so not too sad. :D

Good luck to whoever gets it, I’ve respect for any manager willing to tolerate that county board.

Best of luck to Kevin McStay going forward a top servant of the green and red and the GAA as a whole.

I'd imagine we'll see on a Sunday Game near you into the future.:)
