    Much trouble with it?

    Much trouble with it?

Mostly that I couldn't sell it for what I thought it was worth. :pac: The logic being what I was being offered for it at any time I thought I'd buy it for that.

My biggest problem was tyre wear, but I had the 19" wheels (2.4 JTDM TI) and I'd not recommend that tyre set up in them.

The electrics and fixtures and fittings were bullet proof - no rattles. Had to get the clutch changed twice in my ownership. Sold it to a real car lover, so happy out.

2008 Opel Astra 1.3CDTI (2012) My first was quite reliable but then only had it for about 8 months. 1.3 let it down a bit powerwise but overall was grand and actually made 1k on it when I sold it on.

2007 Ford Focus 1.6TDCI (2013) actually nice enough to drive but an absolute disaster reliability wise despite only having 100k km on it. Left me stranded on the M8 one night for 5 hours I just couldn’t bring myself to like it after that. Seemed to just constantly leak oil from different places.

2007 VW Golf 1.9TDI Comfortline (2014) really was lovely absolutely pristine I paid strong money for it at the time but was spotless and was constantly admired had some nice extras and was lovely to travel in very reliable also. The guy I sold it too still has it see it going around the odd time.

2011 Renault Megane 1.5DCI Dynamique (2015) good car serviced it once in the year I had it and that was about it just cheap motoring really. Comfortable but the 90bhp struggled a little with overtaking.

2009 Audi A4 SE 2.0TDI 143 (2016) Fresh out of college I seen this and was straight on it always wanted an A4. However it was rough around the edges but priced on the low end. I sunk about 2K into it before starting to slowly accept it was a bit of a money pit. Didn’t really want to get rid of it but knew I needed too. Traded it in and actually got a higher trade in than it stood me even with all I spent on it.

2016 Seat Leon FR 1.4TSI (2016) it was a Demo car with only 2K km on it when I got it really actually got a great deal on it as I got a high trade in and it was priced reasonably well. Nice spec looked well from the outside was petrol which is what I wanted and I liked it a lot.

2016 Audi A4 1.4TFSI S-Line (2018) Just randomly decided one Saturday to go look at this and once I drove it I knew I was going to buy it. Really nice car first owner got a good few extras, MMI Nav plus, storage pack, high beam assist, nicer flat bottomed steering wheel, Daytona grey paint, virtual cockpit. Bit of a rocky start with it as it needed a new clutch but that was covered under warranty. I do really like this one and still get excited to drive it. I do plan on keeping this one for the long haul.

I always scare myself and think how much money I would be up if I just kept the Megane but sure where would the fun be in that :)

Well what happened was I was on the lookout for an automatic car and I test drove the A6. Loved the looks of it and the S-tronic auto box was great with a lovely smooth comfortable drive. I decided to go for it and the initial few months were fine. Then what had seemed like small things started adding up such as going to put the car into sport mode and realizing it already was and going to switch on the full lights and realizing they were already on.
I also missed rear wheel drive and found myself staring at every BMW I saw. Then one morning about 11 months after I’d bought it the car went into limp mode. Audi sent an AA man who found so many faults when he plugged it into his computer that he had to load it up and take it away. He even asked me if I’d put petrol in the tank instead of diesel. Audi kept it for a week and said it was a power boost sensor.
Got it back and it was fine but I decided I would rather be in a BMW again. Traded it after one year with 22,000 on the clock for an lci 520d. Overall the A6 was a lovely car but I think I’m just not an Audi person so it wasn’t the car for me.

    I'd be the opposite :)

Had several 5 series for a few weeks while my 05 3.0 TDI Quattro A6 was in for the infamous chain rattle issue and I didn't rate them at all as a competitor. (BMW fans may look away now) :p

    - The E39 was a generation previous fair enough and looked great from outside, but was horribly dated and cramped inside.

    - The first E60 I had was similarly cramped, awful media interface system, awkward control layout and not bothering to even put RHD wipers on it struck me as a cheapskate move for a supposedly premium car

    - The second E60 was an MSport and this was nicer to be fair but still suffered the same core issues. Both of these were more suited as A4 competitors than A6 IMO given the size and layout

    - I did get a 07 630i for a few days a year or so back and it wasn't too bad really :) My best "loaner" to-date though was probably the Merc E320 diesel I had for a day when a garage messed up my servicing booking, though the V6 TDI Q7 was pretty cool too! :)

I can't see myself leaving Audi really at this stage. I went from the 05 one to a 2010 one with a higher spec and again the 3L Quattro diesel. Where do you go from there? A Merc E-class is probably the only option ... although a friend has a 07 S-Class (S350 I think it is) and it's like new. Very very nice machine. :)
