My Husband's Birthday is in January. I would like for us to go away for the weekend but a lot of Hotels seem to close in January.

We have had a difficult year with 2 family bereavements and my Husband travels a lot for work. We had booked a Weekend away for our Anniversary but had to cancel for family reasons.

We like Country House Hotel style places with open fires and Decent Food. No more than 2 Hours drive from Dublin.

    All recommendations welcome.

Blue book is usually a good source of country house style getaways.

Bellinter House near Navan? We did an overnight last year for our anniversary and loved it.

Spa, outdoor hot tub, large lounge, beautiful grounds. Some rooms in the main building have roll top baths. Afternoon tea in the library is very reasonably priced.

    Restaurant was really nice too.

Frequent deals online too, like this one on Pigsback

Mount Juliet Kilkenny; lovely accommodation old school but great restaurant. The grounds are fantastic with access to lot of walks on estate. Not much with an hour from Dublin.

Cashel House Hotel is probably outside the 2hr mark, and its 5 years since we stayed but we loved it.

Waterford Castle is really nice also

Some years ago I stayed in Carton House, Maynooth and in Dunbrody House (near Waterford - a bit over your two hours limit), both were lovely.

Just loved Monart - we've been a couple of times. Everyone is there to chill, no kids, the thermal spa is great and food was fantastic.

+1 on Mount Juliet, we go regually. Stay in the Manor House and book the Lady Helen early - Michelin star resturant.
