Yep, and likewise like a show without ****ting all over those who don't.

(Even The Detectorists, though I will admit to being amused at the flailing miss the first guy made at spelling the name of the show.)

That's the only excuse for thinking Ozark is good.

People who think this show is good need to get out more. I tried it twice and bailed after 4 episodes.

It's binge TV for people who only watch TV.

    Weirdo

Oh wait.. has someone just come on to a thread about TV shows to b!tch about people watching tv shows to make themselves feel all big and better than everyone else.

    Hilarious. :D

    .

    No. Read it again.

I'm talking about people going from one binge show to the next when - in the case of Ozark - some of it so mediocre or downright shíte

The West Wing. Breaking Bad. Lost. The Wire. The Sopranos. The Staircase. The first 2 seasons of House Of Cards. It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia

All shows worthy of binging on.

    Not Ozark. It's fúcking brutal.

And yet some people have nothing better to be doing or watching. We live in a golden age of TV shows and some think that this very poor man's Breaking Bad is worthy of hours of your life.

    Lol. Work away :)

Mod note: Please note this section of the charter.
The 'attack the post, not the poster' rule extends to more generalised posts. Condescending comments or generalised insults aimed at everyone and anyone who disagrees with you are just as bad as attacking an individual. You can easily argue for and against a film without having to make judgements on anyone whose opinion might differ from your own. These sorts of generalised attacks always have a toxic effect on discussion, and posters who use them will receive warnings or infractions and likely have their post deleted.

If you’re going to criticise something, do so without insulting those who disagree. Thanks.

(Non-Mod P.S.: House of Cards seasons one and two are awful rubbish)

I'm here to say I loved Ozark. Can't wait to start season 2.

    Enough waffle, more recommendations please

See I can do this too.

West Wing was ****e. Lost after season 3, ****e. House of cards, ****e. I wouldn't binge any of those.

    West Wing was ****e

A look at the Ozark thread in the TV forum seems I'm far from alone on thinking this show is woeful.

    Anyway. Enough.

Back to the "recommendations" part of this thread.

Quick thanks for the pointers to Wind River. Watched it last night and thought it was incredible, can't believe how quietly it slipped through the cinemas

There are some really poignant moments that you could miss (I thought the soundtrack muddy and unintelligible in parts, my only criticism).

At the end (not really a spoiler but just in case)
the father of the dead girl has his face painted in a grief mask, his own design because there was one left to ask (presumably a tribe elder). I thought it was so sad.

I enjoyed the first season, but season 2 was like a piece of fan fiction. There was no tension or sense of danger to Frank from start to finish, no compelling antagonist, nothing to make for actual drama. I stopped watching after that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,815 ✭✭✭SimonTemplar

I think the biggest problem with season 2 was that the president was such a weakling and no match at all for Frank. It would have been much better if the president was a much stronger character with a more charismatic actor too.

Just watched American Assassin. Was expecting something half decent with Michael Keaton in it but it's pretty poor.

Anybody watched Inside The Criminal Mind? Any good?

    Yep, watched it this weekend.
It is a bit "more of the same" but it is ok.

Paradise PD has its funny parts but trying too hard to be controversial at times.
And i usually really like humour that gets entire twitter populations "offended"

Found the third series of Detectorists by other means. A lovely little show that knew when to quit (a rarity these days). Keep finding myself daydreaming about *SEASON 3*
finding and getting to restore a house in the countryside like Andy gets to at the end
. It was a lovely ending.

Was never really a fan myself but who would have guessed Ricky Gervais wasn't even the funniest writer on the cast of the Office?!

Is the Detectorists finished up at season 3 or is there plans for more seasons ?

    Nope, that's it unfortunately...

They've done it right tbh. 3 seasons was plenty of space for them to finish the story arcs for Andy and Lance and any more would really just be dragging it out for the sake of it: something *so* many tv series do that I think the production team should be commended for knowing when to call it a day and go out on a high.

There are exceptions but most BBC shows only do a few series.

You probably should let people know the bit you spoilered is in season 3 and not on Netflix.
