SKY Q box cuts recordings

I recently changed from 2 Sky+HD boxes (multiroom) but I'm having a recording problem. If I record a programme and then play it back from the beginning whilst still recording, it stops about 10 minutes from the end of the programme. A straight forward recording that is watched sometime later seems to be OK, as far as I can tell.This never happened with Sky+ and it was possible to extend the length of the recording if required, but there seems to be no such facility available on the Q box.
Any ideas ?
