I didn’t say that, I said I know nothing about his background.

Please stop putting words in my mouth.
Same thing. I left out a word in my quote. Shoot me.

Why speculate in derogatory terms about something you admittedly know nothing about?

I wasn’t speculating about his background, horse!

Jeez man, this is senior hurling, you are out of your depth here.

So you don't actually have an answer to my question then?

    Fair enough.

    Interesting choice of words.

Also, vast distance into Dunningkrugerspace, but the precise phrase is... interesting.

Now, let's be fair. If Bren weren't allowed to speculate in derogatory terms about matters he knows nothing about, he'd have no posts to make at all!

Given that there’s a pending court case, yes you have.

I think the vast majority of people couldn't really give a toss about his visit.

I would strongly disagree, I'm predicting a turnout that's as big if not bigger than the repeal marches for the protest on the 11th of November... Repeal marches were pretty massive.

I suppose that depends on the circles you move in doesn't it? Or the people you follow on social media. A lot of people exercise confirmation bias and live in a filter bubble.

I am aware of course that many have a problem with him, but quite a few, probably most people, don't care one way or another. They really don't.

The same people who are critical of Trump didn't ,for example, have much to say about President Xi of China when he came here. No protests for him. Why not?

Maybe because he isn't spouting absolute crap on Twitter 24/7?

I have friends on all sides of the left/right, they all think he's a disaster.

Most people probably don't care about politics in general to any great degree, so why would many people really care about an american politician who has very little impact on anything that happens in Ireland.

I suspect when it comes down to it most people don't care.

We've heard all this before though. Eg during the marriage referendum and 8th amendment referendum. Both times, there were claims of no appetite for such changes and both had record turnouts and substantial support. So I don't think you're gauging the public's feeling on Trump particularly well. Huge turnouts at the anti Trump rally in London btw, I think as a country that we are far more politically involved than those in the UK.

I don't know how many people would turn out for an anti Trump rally here. It'd be a protest against once off thing, rather than a change to the constitution. It's very hard to ignore him though, seeing as he's always in the news.

I think we should ignore him ... he's such a narcissist ignoring him would be the best way to annoy him. Empty streets & no flag waving stooges

+1 most people don't care and don't follow the daily drama of his presidency.

Marriage equality and the 8th are completely different.

Trump is the leader of a foreign country. A different country with a separate constitution and separate laws.

Protest his visit all you want, but perhaps energy would be best served protesting and being vocal on our issues and scandals.

Maybe because he isn't spouting absolute crap on Twitter 24/7?

So what he says on Twitter is the problem? Most people are not on Twitter. It's a tiny ,tiny, representation and it lends itself to confirmation bias.
If people disagree with his policies, that's fine but at least be consistent. He's portrayed as a fascist, he isn't.
He is elected and the people can vote him out in two years time if they wish.
The people of China do not have that luxury. Do you care about them? Did you protest at Xi's visit?

China's a fascist state with little freedom, just because you protest China didn't mean that you can't protest Trump, I meant people in general over here aren't aware of China's policies as much because they aren't laid out on Twitter every day like Trumps which is reported on news everywhere, you don't have to be on Twitter to hear his deranged utterances.

China's a fascist state with little freedom, just because you protest China didn't mean that you can't protest Trump,

But nobody protested against Xi's visit, that's the point. Eamon Ryan of the Green Party is pointing at Trump's record on the environment but not a peep abou China which is the worst polluter in The world.

    THIS IS. HYPOCRISY.

People are saying they are upset at Trunp's policies but do not apply the same level of scrutiny elsewhere.

The United States is a democracy and the American electorate can decide.

A few people virtue signalling over here, is meaningless, inconsistent and hypocritical.
