Nope, but it should be called out for exactly what it is, and we should stop pretending that it's a bastion of decency.

Do you call out every institution or is it just the church?

I've never witnessed a rape in my church. I'd go to the gardai.

Oh wow, you really sidestepped that one so brilliantly.
What do you do when people are raped in your political party? Aren't you a big fan of the BBC? Did you complain online or in print about their sex scandals and rape?

I don't have a political party, if you are referring to SF, I condemn and cheer when any politician who has commited an abuse goes to jail.

Same as a television station. I certainly don't condone it by sidestepping questions because they highlight the hypocrisy of my position, like you just did.

And a cover up and denial from the faithful and a trip in a pickup around Dublin for the man who oversees it all.

Beats a trip around South Armagh in a blindfold wondering if you will get home alive.

Just like the Church got away with it for years, so does the Republican movement, just ask Mairia Cahill.

Maria was raped by a man, allegedly not a 'movement'.. He hasn't had his day in court , to answer the allegations. A court he willingly turned up to.
But you get the noose out anyway there blanch.

Where did I say it wasn't?

In my opinion it is a vile act,and those guilty of it should receive the utmost punishment.

If you think it is the same as lying,I'd be worried about you.

Whatever Francie, your just anti Catholic. Turn a blind eye to abuse in your particular areas of interest.

Cursing and using bad language and calling people names, how Christian of you.
Swearing is also against the forum charter.

Now we get into scurrilous innuendo because you cannot answer the question. Brilliantly pathetic.

Modern society could have decided that killing others is absolutely fine and not a taboo at all. It is far from a given that society would have adapted and evolved at the same pace without the existence of the Church.

The idea of forgiving those who do personal harm to you seemed to emerge with Christianity and did not exist before then.

Maybe read up on the greeks:pac:

    * Awaits the ire of Rosie for watching the news.

I wouldn't worry too much about Rosie she told me I was a liar when i said Frank accused the victims of abuse in Chile of being liars. Even dismissed the links from other posters. None so blind as those etc... etc...

Did you see what the mods were dealing with about two hours ago. Unrepeatable stuff as far as I am concerned.
And you're calling me out over a a bit of slagging of someones posts, Yeah I was slagging them on it/calling them out on it in a relatively light hearted way.

Belated apologies to amdublin. It was hard to see the humour (any humour) in this thread which had so much hate throughout. I can see your post for what it was now- ordinary banter in an AH thread, which if the thread were more balanced, would have gone unnoticed.

Sticking up for the mate in trouble. Aaah! Touching. Love the condescending way you said 'pope threads'.

How the fcuk did you become a mod either? Actually wait.. it's boards.ie.

    Mod edit, unsurprisingly banned.

It might be legal. But it's not moral for a practising Catholic. If you're in the club you have rules.
This one has always confused me. As best I know there is no passage in the New Testament relating to abortion, however some anti-abortion groups like to quote Deuteronomy 30:19 with "This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to His voice, and hold fast to Him."

Which is odd, as in Numbers 5:11-31 of the Old Testament it pretty explicitly endorses abortion in certain circumstances:

    Numbers-5-11-22-New-Revised-Standard-Version-Catholic-Edition-1024x779.jpeg

I would be curious to know who exactly it was decided the Catholic Church was anti-abortion in stance, to be honest.

What was the content of the show? I could nearly guess...loads of token references to the poor, travellers, coloured people, children, women etc etc? with loads of 'We are the good people' cheerleading?

Hmm, she had no problems with the 'in-house' methods of that movement up to the time she didn't get what she was looking for with regards to her own case. Did you ever read her eulogy to 'Uncle Joe'??? Conversion on the road to Damascus indeed.......

Fair play for bringing up Philadelphia. Vile and disgusting. 100's if not 1000's of children abused by up to 300 priests according to US prosecutor's.
