There's a half a million in the Phoenix Park tomorrow. What does that say about a different Ireland.

Well, we don’t know that yet, do we?

My parents are going to see him at Knock. They have six tickets between them and couldn’t offload the extra four. So who knows until the day really?

I found the Obama adulation equally obnoxious and cringe-worthy. The fact that Obama (not unlike Pope Francis) is less of an awful person than some of his predecessors provided scant justification for the arselicking reception this country gave him.

Aye, indeed. My toes curl over a portion of Irish people being amazed at American public figures having a tiny fraction of Irish blood. Obama is far more British than he is Irish.

I remember seeing footage of Meryl Streep being honoured in some Irish ceremony years ago. She has barely any Irish blood and her German ancestry would be much more prominent. America is a melting pot. Having mixed ancestry is normal and nothing to wonder about.

Plenty of men women and children were raped by Catholic Church.

No problem with the outrage and wanting justice.

It's another to try and lead from a win win situation for him.

It's not just today which has seem people see him on another life.

But if you want twist it to make me look like I love some rape (especially after all my posts on the topic down the years here) that's really nothing I can change. Throw me on ignore sure.

No, I'll continue to call you out on any bs you post. Same for everybody.

The fact you think I am trying to twist it into making people think you love rape or something says more about you tbh

Quite simple really I would have thought. If someone who was raped as a child wants to talk about it in public then let them and don't be so flippant and disrespectful to type such rubbish as

"milking the whole thing trying get his little moment of glory"

You've completely lost your mind these days. Sad to see. I wasn't waiting for a chance but I won't keep quiet when people like yourself start dictating to people who got ****ed up the ass as a child for two years to stop "complaining"

There was one poster yesterday saying the same and now yourself. It's disgusting.

That many won’t be Irish and are religious tourists?

Well the Leader of a group who murdered millions of Muslims and other innocent people around the world.

What's the relevance though to the rape of children in Ireland ?

Seems to me a lot of the snowflake generation are a bit upset so many people are out to see the Pope and half a million more going to see him tomorrow.
They were banging on about choice during the killing of unborn babies referendum but apparently don't like people having a choice of wanting to see the Pope.

Obama was here a few years ago and no-one gave a **** about it, people didn't think it was a scandal we were welcoming the president of a country which has destroyed large parts of the world.

Was any organisation he was leader of involved in the raping of children here?

The One in Four group which he formed offers substantial support to survivors of sexual abuse. He achieved all of the things that he has done to date in spite of the abuse he suffered. The man is pretty incredible and continuing to speak out on abuse is simply doing the right thing.

No one is being stopped from seeing the Pope. There is a thread here offering people tickets loads available. Even the FB marketplace has lots of tickets available. Seems the demand is not as strong as was suggested. Anyway sure won't he be on the telly.

Well, I am happy that we closed the entire bloody city for that 10 second blast past on the popemobile.

    Seem like good value.

    ???

I don't see anyone trying to stop people travelling or access the Phoenix park to see the pope (the way the 8th amendment affected my rights to choose abortion or not for my body)

What are you on about killing unborn babies?? Why no arrests for these killings??

Rain due tomorrow. No way half a million will be there to see him. A million saw him in 79, and they could park anywhere they wanted. The buses are parking beyond Kyle more road. The weak won't be able to walk that far to see him, even if it is down hill. They should set up a big screen at the round about in Ballyer!

Might have an auld pray for torrential rain tonight. Sure a bit of hardship should be welcomed by the faithful. Their suffering brings them closer to God or so the guys dresses claim.

Personally, I'm just surprised that such a relatively small amount of people are exercising that choice. Maybe it'll be different tomorrow, but it pales in comparison with 1979. It's quite striking.
