Funnily enough the August weekend is probably my least favorite Bank holiday weekend.

Just feels like it’s too long to the next Bank Holiday to the end of October.

I think I like all the bank holiday weekends pretty equally.
The Spring is great- Easter, Patricks Day, May Day...

Yeah, Loughc- the next bank holiday is practically November. Boo. :(

It's not that I dislike the weekend I just find it a bit boring compared to the others.

I tend to forget about all the bank holidays in May, June & August & they tend to creep up on me so they're a nice bonus day off work. October we always head away for the weekend so I look forward to that one, especially as once its over we're clearly starting our descent into christmas... but for some reason this year I'm really craving the christmas build up so am counting down the days, any days until we get there...
Wouldnt mind but I'm skint at the moment so the last thing we need is the christmas spend :D

Are they on the list ??I'm if not can we put them on it and cross them off? I love the satisfaction of crossing off things done on lists :D

We have the Argos winter catalogue on the list, and that generally coincides with their 3 for 2. :)

I'll mark them off tomorrow when BT is officially open and the RTE schedule is out.

Really enjoying this Christmas Countdown list.
Would love to see “ The Galway Races” added. I know down West “ The Races” usually herald the end of Summer and people always say you notice the evenings drawing in after they are over!

You'll have to move the All Ireland finals up the list with the new dates - hurling is on this weekend.  Was just saying at work the other day that it feels like it's the end of August with all the build up to it.....even though it's still the middle of August.
**OK maybe I live in a hurling obsessed county.....might not be as noticeable in other parts of the country :)

I always associate that with cosy nights and home baking at Christmas time...

We're really coming into peak season fast!

Out of interest Loughc when does the forum really start to pick up more traffic?

Interestingly enough we saw a upswing in posts last year from August on... November is our busiest month of the year for posts, which makes sense as Christmas itself and the run up people are too busy to post.

Year Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec Total
    2017 472 100 136 153 141 166 303 517 737 700 1,971 1,378 6,774

    2018 1,350 513 440 185 156 223 231 269 3,367

2018 started off strong due to the game thread and all the new threads started in January.

Feb/March were up due to the snow storm we had... the snow brought the country to a stop and people felt very sentimental about the festive season when they woke up to snow and even ChristmasFM made a one day only return.

I suspect July & August are down on last year due to the weather also, what with us having a decent summer for a change I doubt many contemplated Christmas at all over the last couple of months.

Cheers for that btw, be interested to see how the yearly total ends up in comparison to previous years.

Yes I'm guilty of that too. When the warm weather was here the last thing on my mind was Christmas.

Now that the evenings are getting duller and the weather more miserable Christmas is more at the forefront.

I do a Year In Review thread each year and I usually post how many posts we had for the year and where it ranks overall year wise and how it compares to last year. I'm a stat man myself so I love giving stats out.

I'd love to see the forum to continue to grow, compared to the volume years ago we're in a different league to where we used to be.

I have a couple of ideas for some threads over the next couple of months that should hopefully get things happening.

All we need is for one of the elves to end up in the Audience Toy Show, that was an epic thread! :)
