Help Connectting Huawei E5377 to TP Link MR3420

Hi,

Could someone please advise how to connect Huawei E5377 to TP Link MR3420
I got the TP Link delivered from Amazon website yesterday.

Quick set up seems easy however the TP Link does not seem to be connecting through wired USB or through wireless set up.

My E5377 (3 years old) is unlocked from meteor and I'm using a Three sim Card.

PS (where I'm located Meteor had faster download speeds of up to 40Mbs and zero service drops although three is till pretty good at 20 Mbs however three is prone to dropping service at busy times...of course the unlimited makes up for that)

There seems to be quite a few versions of that router. See https://openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-mr3420
The http://ofmodemsandmen.com/firmware.html currently only lists images for v1 and v2, but the main image builder on the forum, "dairyman" would be able to tell you if they will suit and/or build you one specially if not

I have the v5 but no joy following step 1 of the instructions so I contacted dairyman with what I guess is probably not the first time he has had this query :rolleyes:

I don't see any new post on the forum about it. Did you try loading the basic Openwrt image for the v5 using the update firmware option from the stock firmware's web interface?

Yes I downloaded the image and tried to update firmware with that file however an error message kept popping up everytime...

Try renaming that image file so its shorter, its 72 bytes without the .bin extension

Note: ensure that the length of the filename is less than 64 characters. For some reason is a check for this length in the Javascript of the firmware upgrade page that produces an unrelated “Please choose a file to upgrade” message if this length is exceeded, and the firmware image for 15.05.1 exceeds this limit if not renamed. This was discovered for official firmware version TL-MR3420_V2_150319.

I don't know if the basic Openwrt will work out-of-the-box with your modem, thats what ROOter is for, its a bunch of scripts that make it easy. If you can load Openwrt successfully, dairyman should be able to make you one.
