:30/km was self-fulfilling. I was determined to run to feel though and if that didn’t yield sub 3:30/km pace, then so be it. I wasn’t going to go over the edge just to be able to say I’d succeeded in running fast. When I saw I was off pace approaching the first 10 minutes at LT, I decided to take a break and ran easy for 3 minutes and started running the opposite directions around the Park’s Playing Fields. I thought this would be enough to ensure I ran the second half on pace, but this isn’t what happened, and it was rather disappointing to see I was even slower for this portion.

Maybe all you needed was to chill and relax before the swims? (Think that advice is copyright from interested). In any case, nice to have that in the bank for when you return to Tri... and back to the main program; great to see the running going to plan for DCM.
