Beneficiary; will solicitor contact me

Hi,
I had a friend that passed away suddenly a few weeks ago. She's no spouse/partner, no children,
no parents, and just one sister living in a different county. She had told me about a year ago she had just gone to make a will and had left me something in it. We were both lovers of the Arts so my instinct tells me she may have left me one of her many reproduction paintings or some ornaments that I'd often bring her back from holiday. I don't expect there to be anything monetary left in the will for me, but just the said items , which are worthless but full of sentimental value .
My query is, that since the time she made the will, I've moved address. I've only met the sister once , at the funeral, as she rarely travelled and lived in a different county, opposite end of the country!
Anyone know what happens now? Will the solicitor have a way of finding my new address , or how will she contact me? I've no idea what solicitor she used.

Sorry I should have clarified that I'm not looking for legal advice but more so advice from anyone that may have been in similar situation.

First thing I would do would be to check your old address see if anyone's been looking for you or if any mail.

It's the executor's job to find you. I presume the sister is the executor. This being Ireland, most people are not difficult to find. You can, of course, make being found easier by keeping in touch with the executor, or by being highly visible.

I appreciate that it's a delicate issue. You don't want to ring her out of the blue and say "did your sister not leave me something"? But, if you haven't already done so, you could write her a letter of condolence (from your new address). Then she'll have your address.

If it's only been a few weeks, you wouldn't expect to have been contacted yet. The will will have to be admitted to probate, and that takes a while. If you're right in thinking that you have been left paintings or ornaments, it may be that the distribution of the contents of the house won't proceed until the house is cleared for sale.
