After a house burglary many miles from home, she was found in a car full of stolen goods. The other occupants of the car fled. She partakes in the 'travelling gangs' that terrorise the country.

Just listening to the Niall Boylan podcast on this topic. 4FM have gained a new listener in me and I will stop listening to Newstalk which I've been listening to for years. He's not perfect but at least he is challenging this fiasco unlike all of the presenters on Newstalk, Today FM and RTE.

I wonder where Hook would stand on this if he was still allowed to voice his opinion

the school uniform thing was debunked a few pages back. can't we at least stay on the legitimate things to criticise?

Instead of people constantly whining in this thread about how much tax they have to pay and how difficult their life was, and still is, why don't you earn more money?

No matter how much tax you think you pay, you're nothing special. Your superiors and betters who pay considerably more tax see you as worthless. How much tax do the wingers pay in taxes anyway? It's probably only in the thousands every year, it would barely cover the cost of a street lamp on your road.

I think everyone is fed up with the non-stop moaning from the "squeezed middle". Always looking for a handout or a tax break from the government when it comes to budget time. What kind of example are you setting for your children with your continual sob stories?

I love nothing more than comparing how much tax I pay over a homeless or unemployed person (we all do), it gives me an immense feeling of superiority over them. However, there comes a time when you have to stop the whining, pull yourself up by your bootstraps, and go out there and work harder to better yourself.

Until you're paying millions in tax every year, you're barely contributing anything to this country.

    Non stop moaning...?

Crikey,up until LV used the term, few even nodded in our direction.

As for earning more money (legally),that possibility was neatly eliminated with the introduction of the "Working Time Directive" with it's all encompassing restrictions on Employed persons working too much.

Mind you,if your self employed then off ye trot !

The whole system makes no sense when you have a better standard of living if you are on the dole versus working on minimum wages
No can deny it as the numbers don’t lie.
And the welfare system allows generations of families to be financed completely by the state.
There is nothing that can be done to change this as the state do not want to increase min wage to a living wage nor build council homes on the scale needed as that will make property prices drop again.
The welfare state will never change Because of certain vested interests Such as the Public sector legal medical private landlords

In most countries they would be locked up for non payment, here they might be asked to pay €2.75 per child per month towards their upkeep and still would not pay it.

Take it out of their wages.....oh wait, there's a major flaw in that logic.

Imagine the da's rocking up to collect their sole and only getting half then being told the rest went towards their kids upkeep. ;)

She then had even more children with these cretins, should have tried some contraception at least instead of bringing so many children into the world. Did she have more children since being made homeless? If so very irresponsible.

This would be so easy to do. When a child is registered for children's allowance, the PPS number of the mother and father should be included on the application. If the same PPS number presents for a dole payment it should be docked at a rate depending on the number of children associated with that number. Will never happen though after the bloody fiasco uproar over the Public Services Card fiasco.

Paul Murphy makes me grind my teeth. Free everything for everybody except the privileged who earn over €30k.

there is something about most of the arch-socialist types , they were all born into money. Their cause and leading others astray is nothing more than 2 fingers to daddy and their upbringing.

I would'nt mind. I was going to be sympathetic, up until a point. The moment I saw the surname 'Cash', and the age of the lady in question, I thought.......hmmm.......
28 years old, 7 children. I see it for what it is. A staged publicity stunt designed to get a sympathy vote.

*ahem*, let me clear my throat. You'll have to read this in the most patronising voice possible.

Have any of you ever asked for a raise in work? How about getting a better paid job? Perhaps looking at getting a better education?

You could also give up the sky tv, reduce your internet package to a cheaper option or maybe give it up completely. What about buying a less expensive phone?

I haven't given this any thought, but I've still managed to come up with a few ideas. If you people refuse all this help, you only have yourselves to blame.

    Hypothetical social welfare office scenario.

    Yes.
And what, you want us to give you some money?
    Yes please.

It's sad that isn't actually satire but has happened. Perhaps in nicer terms but the end result is the same.

Social pressure can change this. When her peers start frowning on her (too late for this woman) about her CHOICES to have so many children, they'll have fewer children, and consequently more options. Repealing the 8th was key to this being a possible behavior. If all of a sudden, families start having only one or two children, more and more will. The financial incentives are likely less important; people don't think or behave in their own best interests, they think emotionally, and if the emotions associated with having too many children are negative, it'll stop.

Another reason to reduce the influence of the RCC in Irish life, they're the big pushers of big families all in service to the church, but they only have their own vested interests at heart, money and power, and children to abuse.

From an interview with Mrs Cash:
“About having a few beers, so you are not allowed to have a few beers, all because you’re homeless?"
Margaret explained: “My young one (*described like a tool or utility I guess) made her First Communion, I got her a nice Communion dress, so what? I got my child a nice Communion dress.
“Everyone has a past, I was only a young woman, everyone does stupid things when they are young. But that doesn’t stop the council from giving me somewhere to live.

“This (hot goods case) is nothing to do with it, even if I was the biggest criminal in Ireland, there are murderers and rapists out there who get houses off the bloody council.
The single mum said: “He’s (the father) not around. I’m on my own with the kids. People think having the kids is really, really hard, but I think they’re great. That’s what I do. That’s my life. If we had a house we would be OK.
“I know there are people on Facebook saying, ‘Why did you have so many kids?’ You don’t plan to have so many kids, it just happens."

That's the mentality unfortunately that the welfare state has grown. Not much personal responsibility to be seen.

What is really sad here is that this is her genuine reality. She's not doing it out of malice, it's how she sees life and is probably third+ generation doing it this way. Her children will become the fourth and they will always expect cash and houses to be simply handed to them; they will lash out at the society if there's any delay too. They've never seen different. This is how you are brought up antisocial to the core.

It's psychological engineering. People who tend to get everything for nothing tend not to respect anything naturally.

You can imagine how ingrained that would be after 2 or 3 generations.

I don't actually blame them for that mentality.

They are still leeching though at the end of the day.
