    Hi Folks,

My VF contract is nearly up and i'm wondering if its time for an ISP change, I am wondering who has the best hardware?

VF's modem is a bit dodgey to say the least.

I have heard good things about Sky's and Eircoms but looking for folks opinions...

Price is obviously also a factor here.

PS. not interesting in buying a separate router.

    Thanks,

Sky Hub is a bit of a joke tbh.

Vodafone and Eir both use the 659 now so don't change over that. Magnet will send a Fritzbox that might be slightly better.

    Hmm disappointing.

    Digiweb do fritzbox also.

Sounds like ill end up getting VF to match Eir's deal again so.

Out of curoisty why do you say Sky Hub is a joke? whats the problem with it?

They are doing their 30euro a month offer again which is a pretty outstanding price to be fair.

Bridge whatever the ISP provides to your own decent router.

    thanks,
I ended up getting a very strong deal from VF to stay with them for another year, enough of a saving to buy a nice bit of kit... torn between either Google Wifi or a friend will sell me an Asus RT-AC3200 for a good price.

Hi Fionny (and others) - about getting your own router - as i wish to do myself .
a few years ago i had the HG658 - it was easy to bridge and i had great freedom with my own ddwrt router.
However i cannot locate a guide after hours of searches - a guide to bridging the HG659 the newer model from vodafone to make it act as "modem only" knocking off wifi etc etc - can anyone point me in the right direction on this - logins required HG659 config changes etc please ??
