I'd do my own thing and if anyone wants to have a gossip among their friends about how I'm all of a sudden buying expensive stuff then woo-hoo, I'm more important than their own lives. Keep going.

I like the inheritance angle. Just say you're Uncle 'Randall Stephens' from California worked with Apple from the late 80's, that he had stock options and wound up a multi-millionaire. You've been left some money in a will and that you're shocked as he was a simple living kind of fella and nobody knew he was loaded. Important to just say you only got some, as it would explain the sudden spending splurge. If you say you got all his money, people will know you still have more.

People get hit by lightening too, but we don't spend much time working out what we would do if someone in our family got hit. But it's a lot more likely, statistically speaking, than a big win. I think I remember reading that the same person is more likely to be hit twice by lightening than to become a lottery millionaire :P

And yet I know two people who have won big.. A friend from school's brother won 500k and our milkman's daughter won 6m allowing him to retire.

The fact is that the odds are a bit bigger than Ireland's population, or at they used to be. When I did the lotto, I figured that I had a chance of being that one person in the country who'd win.

But I was really paying for the couple of hours of daydreaming that came with it. It's escapism, I could afford it, and I was happy to pay it. Booksmart retards can't comprehend that and their minds stop at the odds because that's as deep as their logical process can go. They harp on about this "tax on the stupid" while not realising they sound stupider than a plank of wood.

Everyone knows it's ridiculous odds. You're not teaching anyone anything. You're just broadcasting you have no clue about likely anything.

The big **** i leave on my mangers desk with a little flag on it saying "i stop being a paye worker" might give it away that i won big in the lottery.

As that would be without a doubt the absolute first thing i would "buy", freedom from working for someone else.

Strange how there have been 10 lottery millionaires in the country this year already and hardly a mention of all those hit by lightning.

Louth has, to date, 76 lottery millionaires and again no reporting of repeated lighting strikes.

Like Jimmy Carr said on an episode of QI. Your chances of winning the lotto are 50/50. either you win it or you don't.

Trip to Vegas with the missus post about winning big and getting upgraded to a nice suite or just say you won lotto plus 250,000 or 500,000 but obviously wait for it to be won or be vague with the date.

I wouldn't worry about the beggars.
Let them know you have money and keep a security guy at home.
When the scroungers come knocking, security man puts a bag over their, kidnaps them and brings them to a far away forest.

You and your other millionaire friends then hunt said scroungers for sport, if they escape they'll have a new found appreciation for their current circumstances and won't come asking for money again, and if they don't escape, they won't come asking for money again.

put the money in a foreign bank . wait a while and then pretend to win 2.5mil on the lotto or euromillions. splash out with it , give some to a few charities and family, set yourself up with house car etc, set up a good business so that you can pretend the rest of the money came from that

Your not going to win the lottery, no one is, statistically speaking . It's a scam, a tax on people that cannot do maths, A Form of social control,
designed to keep the proles entertained and passive.

I personally know someone who won the jackpot.
He was a sound person and it didn't change him.
Yes he bought the new cars, cleared all his debts, did huge work to his home, helped out his family, threw a party and wisely invested the rest, including a substantial amount in long term savings accounts for each of his young children.
He said after all of that, the best thing was never having to worry about the size of the electric bill, the gas bill or the phone bill again.
Fair play to him, all from a two line quick pick.

First ever Million Pound Irish lotto win was a young girl in Galway on a single line quick pick.

Generally people win small amounts but someone eventually wins the jackpot.

    .

I remember seeing a program about lottery winners. There was a guy on it and he had the attitude of you were like the man you described you shouldn't play the lotto in the first place.

Not really sure what you are trying to say.

He basically said if you weren't going to be flash with the money. IE buy cars with £100,000's, swimming pools, gold jewearly, etc you shouldn't play the lotto.

A cousin of mine won it a long time ago when a million would make you "rich" . Can you imagine the buzz of reading out your numbers and finding out you won?!

Found out the next day that he shared the winnings with (can't remember how many people) but it was crazy how many people had the same numbers.

Ended up with 67,or 76 grand. So long ago I can't remember. Paid for his house and a nice car.
Nice to live without big bills, fair play to them all

But different people will have different plans if they ever win. Some will go all out flash, others won't. Some will be more careful and think long long term security for their families, others may just pack up and travel the world or help out their favorite charitable cause.
Whatever people have in mind to do with the winnings, if they get that lucky, is up to them.

I know if I won a big Euro-millions it would be a bit of all of the above. Say nothing, move house, then work it out from there.

The original question quoted 10 million!!

The house I want is currently 3.4m - So I have 6.6m left to piss about with!

Thats a lot of pissing about!

You got a job as a personal assistant to a very wealthy businessman.

    Your house? The gaffers
    Your nice car? The gaffers
You seem to be in holiday a lot? Business trips with the gaffer
I didn't know you were into yachts? Spend a lot of time at sea with the boss.

Maintaining, furnishing, upgrading a €3.4m property over your lifetime will probably cost you a fair chunk of what’s left.

I would definitely be taking the long term approach. Being flash is stupid and won’t bring fulfilment. Earning money is a lot more exciting than spending it. Whatever I won I would just think about ways of increasing it.

I think I’d get into the property game -flipping houses but I wouldn’t invest more than €250,000 of my winnings and after that only invest the profits.

He's have to have shared it with 15 people.
Ever consider he made up the share story after telling everyone he won

Did they win a few million themselves or share a few million. Did it change their life?
