    Hi Chaps,

After buying the newer car I just put the old one up for sale. Just looking for feedback on the advert, I think it's well laid out with all the right information first:

    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/2012-fiat-500-2-owner-nct-2020-tax-feb-2019/19479518

It's been a little gem and well looked after while in my care. It's mechanically sound but the Blue & Me module would need to be replaced if the new owner wanted Stop/Start, Bluetooth etc but I think I've priced it as the cheapest 500 on DoneDeal.

    First th8hg would be that it’s 3 owners :)

What’s going on with the back bumper? It would probably be worth getting it painted as it really takes from it.

The ad itself is very good IMO.

Hmmm the car was owned by the company I work for previously and then sold to me. I was sure I was the 2nd owner. Is that ever likely to be wrong Colm?

The car was originally a company car and was totally wrapped. When they were taking the bumper part off it started to peel so I left it there. I think it'd cost a few hundred to take it off and repaint the bumper?

    Thanks for the feedback.

I think you should do the bumper really.

It takes away from the look and seeing as this car is about the look I really think it will help.

Would it be possible to get the bumper wrapped?

Good ad KH and looks spotless...but the big question....what new car did you get?

Get the bumper repainted, you will be talking about €250/€300 for a good job. As it stands that back bumper would put off a lot of potential buyers. It gives the impression the car was in a smack and/or you just couldn't be arsed looking after the car.

I mentioned that in the advert.

That might be possible I guess... didn't think of that.
I went with a boring but practical 2015 Nissan Note. Decent spec with auto lights/wipers, aircon, satnav, parking sensors and privacy glass.

Try heating the wrap before peeling it off, If it’s taking the paint with it.

I'd replace the blue and me module.

I don't want to spend the guts of €400/500 after spending €300 servicing it. I've priced the ad so I can be haggled down a bit, which will give the new owner the money do replace the unit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,328 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

Ad says the module would only cost €200 :D

The point is that anyone buying your 500 won’t be a car person and may not even look at a Fiat that has issues, no matter how small. If you’re gonna get premium money for it, it has to be right IMO.

Problem is OP, most people interested in that sort of car won't want to spend more money on it straight away to fix stuff after forking out 4k plus on the car itself. It just introduces uncertainty into the mind of a buyer and they start to think what else is wrong with it that the seller might not be telling me or the seller is trying to offload a lemon.

You need to fix the bumper paint, the sill and replace the module or else you need to dramatically drop the price. also looks like there are wheel center caps missing? As said above it just looks like an uncared for example and the average 500 buyer wont bother with it, it looks rough

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,328 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

You’d get away with the sill tbh.

Looks to be priced well, the issues notified might be putting people off. For what it's worth, I've to buy my daughter a car in the new year and never thought of the Fiat 500 :D Will be considering that. :)

    The rear looks pretty bad.

    That's what she said

Sigh, looks like I'll get the rear done so. I have the other centre cap. The 'joints' that hold it in place are really weak and broke off when I was changing a tire. I'll see if I can fix it.

So the car is sold. A mechanic took it for €4250. I can't complain about that as I'd have spent a few hundred to fix the bumper and the time it would have taken would have been the most awkward thing.

It was priced at a level attractive to trade.
